Ok, has anyone seen this movie? I havn't, but it looks awful. I thought the TV show was cancelled a long time ago. I always thought the TV show was really dumb too. The characters look really aweful and look like clowns. Do any of you have opinions on this?

I'm with you on this one. I really can't believe Disney is making a movie (bad enough its going to theatres) out of a cartoon, which I never thought really did very well.

I know that we had a commercial for it on our DVD at the store, and our now selling a 'Teachers Pet' kids t-shirt... but other than that, nothing.

I think this movie is pretty much guaranteed to flop. They should have just released it on video.

Hey man, Gary Baseman is a great artist, and that is the way he intended his characters to look. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you shouldn't be making judgements.

Yeah... right? If it don't look good (regardless of intent) you aren't going to like it. No way I could stand to sit down for a 45 minute movie of Teacher's Pet. I'm not going to waste all that money to watch something I don't even like to look at just to see if the story is good.

This should have been a TV movie if anything.

Well, with any luck, Teacher's Pet will be the beginning of the death of Television Animation movies being released theatrically.

Now come on Eisner, don't blame yourself, blame the whole Television Animation Department. We really don't need Direct to Video Sequels and TV Quality Theatrical sequels!

KILL ALL SEQUELS

Disney only needs TWO animated films/year MAX. In fact, HALT ALL animation for an entire year.

Kill *all* sequels. At most, three animated films released on video.

They need long-term focus (i.e. not overcrowding animation, which KILLED WDFA FLA). Not short-term greed profits.

They are killing themselves. :brick:

Well, I think if a story can truly support a sequel then it is ok. But profit driven / inferior "sequels to make a sequel" are bad.

Aladdin 2 would have been ok for a sequel, but they should have waited til Robin Williams was on board. I still think "Through the Looking Glass" would be an acceptable sequel also.

Apparently, the artist style isn't too popular.

The film couldn't even crack the TOP 10. It barely made over 3 million dollars.

 Well myself being a pretty big fan of the show, did see the movie. Iwas definitely dissapointed in it mainly because the songs were rushed along with the story. As for the quality of animation i do believe that Gary Baseman and his crew handled things quite well. When you are transferring a animated tv show into a film you dont want to refine the style so much that people dont recognize the show.

From strictly an animation standpoint i think Teachers Pet was handled very well. I would have no problem with movies coming from tv shows as long as they had a good full length feature film story to tell. South Park so far is the only show i have seen done well on the big screen. Thats my 2 cents.
