Teacher Thinking About Stay at Dolphin

I have thought quiet a few times about using my teacher discount to stay at the Dolphin. Actually have made reservations few times only to cancel and book at value or moderate. One reason is the use of Magical Express over paying for transportation from airport. But Dolphin seems like it would be so neat with its awsum location and proximity to Holywood Studios, Epcot, Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach etc.
So I am seeking some insight from my fellow teachers who have taken advatange of thoer discounts and convince me to finally pull the trigger.

Both my wife and I are educators and have stayed there many times years ago and last year for a short visit. It is a great hotel in a great area. The rooms are large with wonderful beds. We just enjoy the Disney feeling at the Disney resorts. For what you are going to pay for your room and transportation you can rent Disney vacation points and stay in a Disney feeling resort. Beach club is ok short walk to Epcot or boat to studios. Bay lake is short walk to magic and monorail ride to Epcot. We enjoy them all. We stay over Christmas in the animal kingdom lodge and over the summer at old key west or Saratoga springs.

I am not a Teacher, but I try and stay at the Dolphin as mach as possible when we go to the World. It is a wonderful resort, especially if you can get room w/ a EPCOT view. I never get the feeling I'm not at a Disney resort while I'm there either. My fiance and I would always recommend it.

Dolphin and Swan run discounts for teachers, nurses, military etc. Great discounts too if you can get them Last time I thought about it the rooms were like $129 a night compared to $250+....Yes you MUST show a paycheck, certification, liscense etc to get discount.

I am a nurse and have done the same thing, have booked and cancelled then gone to a value/moderate. But, they did tell me when I made the reservation I would have to show proof of occupation when I checked in. Always fun to try something once, try it and see if you like staying there or not.

I'm not a teacher but my husband and I love the Dolphin and I've stayed there about six times. The resort has the feel of an upscale hotel with plenty of the Disney theme. The transportation options are great and the restaurants at the Dolphin and the Swan are excellent. We don't have children and so we enjoy these hotels because they are more oriented to adults. One thing is that you may see a lot of convention-goers, which to us is much better than hordes of high schoolers!

If you are a certified teacher,(my daughter) but you are not employed as a teacher (because there aren't any teacher jobs here), can you still get the discount? She an show her teaching certificate..and she sometime substitute teachers, although her pay is direct deposit so she has no stubs. (note: she has gone back to school for a different career.)

DO IT!!!!! IT IS A GREAT DEAL!!!

I am a teacher, and we recently stayed there in December. We got a balcony room with an EPCOT fireworks view, and paid about $235 a night including all fees. We stayed in a room with a service maintenance view two years ago and only paid $99. That room is around $150 now. The rooms are the size of value resort rooms, but the proximity to the parks is so worth staying there. You can walk or take a boat to EPCOT. We will be staying there again in September.

All you need to do is tell them you are a teacher when you book. When you arrive they will ask for your school ID. No other questions asked. :)

But if you are a substitute teacher, who is certified but has no permanent job because in Michigan it is impossible to get one, you don't have a school id. Will they take anything else, like a copy of your certification?
