Wow, Disneyland is so close to Magic Kingdom!

What's surprising to me is that DL has now surpassed TDL's annual attendance. A decade or so ago that would have been unthinkable. Universal Japan has inched passed TDS? What the heck is going on at Disney's Japanese parks?

I find it hard to believe that the MK is outdrawing DL.
I actually thought the gap may have been a bit wider. WDW is a major vacation destination, drawing people from around the world. DL as you are probably aware caters much more to locals and AP's though I'm guessing there have been more tourists visiting over the past 1-2 years.

Even so, I'm skeptical that DL doesn't draw more than the MK.

I wonder about this, because with the price restructuring of APs last fall and regular and dramatic price increases you'd think that attendance growth would be slowing down like it has been in Florida at WDW. Something is driving this growth in Anaheim, and it wouldn't surprise me if an increase in vacationers is part of the reason.

It is. It ain't for nothin' that no one can stop building new hotels in Anaheim. The rooms fill.

The numbers for DCA are much lower than reality, and MK and DHS numbers are higher than reality. USJ is ludicrously popular in Japan, with a collection of IP that resonates with the populace there in a big way.

I remember Miceage did a report not too long ago about DL/DCA attendance, and they mentioned that these attendance numbers aren't accurate because the numbers they had DCA at were much higher than is reported on this report.

You think the numbers are wrong? My guess is that it hasn't in decades. The only scenario where I can see it beating MK is the first year of operation for SW land and I think that will still be a stretch.
They might beat it this year. The parks aren't quite as busy here in Florida as they have been the past few years. Disneyland looks packed every day!

I seem to recall that the count your first park entry of the day in the attendance numbers. Most tickets are either pass holders or park hoppers. So it's probably a reflection on which park is first choice of the morning. Then bounce to the other park later. I could see DL being the overwhelming #1 choice even with the rush to get Radiator Springs Racers fast passes first thing.

On our multi day visits, DL is always first entry on day 1. DCA is first on day 2. But with the park hopping, we're usually in both parks on any given day.
