TDL Managment?

Could someone explain how TDL is run? Does Disney make the decisions, or does OLC contract WDI to make the rides? I'm confused. :hammer:

2nd option. :)
OLC Licenses and pays a royalty fee to Disney for the name.
If I recall disney gets a small percentage of the gate as well as food sales.
Nothing on merchandise (BIG mistake).
Disney can present attractions and park ideas to OLC but they have the right to say yes or no.
Useless trivia: Eisner was apparently determined to sell OLC on a Walt Disney Studios park (it was his idea to develop the MGM/DIS in Fla) He wanted one at every resort.
OLC said no and went with DisneySeas instead.

Thanks for the info.

buildign DisneySeas instead of MGM was probably the best decision they ever made. DisneySeas looks so awesome. I wish I could go there,

I have been lucky enough to have gone (I had to go to Tokyo for my work).
It really is Disney most beautiful park (mind you DLP is a VERY close 2nd IMHO).
I agree that DS was a better choice than MGM.
But could you imagine what the OLC might have done with the whole studio theme?
It boggles the mind. :p
Maybe one day if they ever expand into Tokyo Bay and build a 3rd park.

Best just not to think about it. Let's just be thankfull for what we have (Disney-MGM) and for what we don't (Disney Studios Paris) :D .

To be honest the Studios were not built yet when I went to DLP (I was there in 1996 I think).
But from the pictures I've seen and the articles I've read it looks very low on themeing and attractions (or shows for that matter).
I know the "theme" is a working studio which is pretty bland, but it's a themepark for pete's sake. Would it have killed the budget to put in some trees, some water? A Sunset Blvd? It's just so...bland.

I was at DLP at the beginning of this year (my first visit!) The studio park is Sadly lame. I always try to look for the upside in Disney and toe the company line, but there is no defending this park. Minimal theming. No Landscape. No atmosphere. No Magic. We spent all of an hour there and went back to Disneyland park...Which is incredible BTW, but off topic. I just can't imagine TDL building something like this. Putting a similar DSP next to DisneySea would clearly make the studio look like the ghetto (do they have ghettos in Tokyo??)
