Has anyone seen any taxidermy at any of the hotels on the property? I am trying to figure out where to stay, and a friend's child is terrified of taxidermy. She is OK with large 101 Dalmation dogs etc. but not "stuffed" real animals or anything like moose heads on the wall. Thanks!

Well for starters I'm sure you are aware there are fake taxidermy animatronics in the Country Bear Jamboree so you may not want to take the little one there.
I'm not positive but I would think there may be some on display in Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge.
That being said - outside of a educational purpose I don't think the Mouse really uses taxidermy for decorative purposes.

~ Edit ~ Correction I found this when I searched for Taxidermy in Walt Disney World I think you may find it quite useful. https://disneyparksmomspanel.disney...rmy-disney-world-strange-fear-know-go-295996/

Yes, but I doubt that many of those things are actual taxidermy. Taxidermy, by definition has to be an actual once live animal that has been stuffed with artificial material to make it's outward appearance to look alive. (albeit rigid). If it is a fear of seeing a make-believe animal (or one that never was real) then my advice is to stay away from any Disney Theme Park. It will be a frightening experience.

I can sympathize with your friends daughter. One of my uncles used to run a Taxidermy business near DC and he had displays of his work all over his home. A lot of politicians and well to do people used to come to him after their big hunting trips. When I was young I was always creeped out when we visited him. I was sure something standing around me was going to come to life. His work was excellent and everything was situated in various poses. One of the creepiest displays he had was of a rattle snake coiled up ready to strike.

As far as hotels from what I can think of Is just the wilderness lodge. Although I am sure there's a few raccoons who were pretty stuffed from the free food around most resorts. :joyfull:

Wait.. So you mean the Dinosaur heads mounted in Restaurantosaurus are <gasp> fake!?!?

Next you will tell me Speilberg doesn't actually have the head of the triceratops he hunted and killed mounted on his wall....

Sorry.. Couldn't resist.

the best advice is for your friends child to consider seeking professional help if they haven't already, as that is most certainly an illogical and irrational fear, and may be a symptom of something else at play... or they can just attempt to avoid it their entire life, which i'm sure is also healthy

but then, taxidemy is pretty much dead anyways (badum-tish)... so, whatevs

How old is your friend's child? Understandable if they are in the younger age bracket. They will likely get over it...especially with exposure in settings such as Disney. My DS had an "irrational" fear of just about every ride we rode at Disney Parks from the time he was a toddler. When he was 10, he would be so anxious about riding TT and HM--forget Space and Splash--he hated those! Yes, we were those parents that made him ride everything, except Space and Spalsh Mtns after he had done it a few times and said he really hated it. But guess what...we were at Universal last year, he's now 13, and of his own volition, said he was going to ride everything--and he did!! Upside down, loops, you name it! And now he loves those kinds of rides. My point is, with enough exposure, kids generally overcome their fears, especially if you don't make it a big deal. Good luck to your friend!:)
