I saw ToD on July 12, and the parade seemed to be much shorter than before. For example There were only 3 angle girls at the beggining, and 1 reversed marrionet! It also seemed to me that the music was quieter now than it was before, this is the same for RoE. The parade was still great though!

the reason for this is that when a puppet breaks, it takes forever to fix it, and they aren't making any new puppets for a while,,

as for what I voted for.. I didn't. I don't know a single redeeming factor in this parade

Personally, i think this is the worst parade i have ever seen at a disney park.

I didn't vote for anything.

(The drummers would be coolest though.)

Hmm..

Yes, i'd rather watch the same Disney characters in a menagerie like every other Disney parade...

Not. I like this parade, i'm sure Tapestry of nations was much better, but i do like the Dream Seeker characters.

Maybe i'm just weird, I hate Fantasmic because it's just a bad rehash of Disney characters on water screens as well and would rather watch Illuminations any day.

Personally, i dislike this parade because it is so repetitive, not because it is missing disney characters. I understand not everyone agrees with me, but once you've seen one big puppet, another umpteen more just like it, doesn't really do it for me.

I saw tapestry of nations too, and i didn't think it was much better, although it did have a bit more variety.

I think one of myy fave things about the parade, is being on the far end of the lagoon somewhere near American Adventure and seein it comming from the distance across the water.

You don't see the puppeteers, just the puppets, and when lit up at night it's pretty nifty to see.

Plus, i think it fits in the World Showcase. It has that "Carnival" (as in stilt walkers and mardi gras style) feel to it. Why do you supposed Italy makes all those masks, you know? Its based more on the people having fun and interacting with the parade as a celebration (as most world cultures view such events) than the typical American "look at the pretty floats" type of parade.

I loved ToN, because it was a good parade. It was well done, and had a lot of originality.

I could see a concept like ToD working well, but when they put it all together, it was overkill. It seems like WDE went to K-Mart to make the parade, and on the way back to Epcot, made a stop at a Dr. Seuss book. It is a cheap and scary parade (well, Leonardo is... )

Normally, I will defend any parade and show that I perform in, but ToD can go far, FAR, away.

FYI-right now there is talk in Epcot Entertainment about it going away, and a new "semi-light" parade going in. I'll post more as I get it

I dont understand how ToD is any different than ToN. I liked both of them. I don't even know the whole "story" that is supposed to be behind the characters, but I still like it. A lot of work must have went in to making those costumes and giant puppets (more than a lot of people seem to think). It still has the drumers in it, and that would probably be my favorite part of the parade.

a lot of work was put into the puppets...

3 years ago, for ToN. The same for the costumes.

I understand how a lot of work may have gone into the current incarnation. They designed 3 new costume, 2 of which, in pattern, are extremely similar (Cozmo and Elfin.. the only difference is in the material.. but they are cut nearly identical, oh yeah.. and 1 has wings, and the other a loincloth), but they put very little work into the redoing of the puppets. I mean, c'mon.. how long does it take to drill 2 8" cymbals into a block of wood (a total of 4 hours for all of the Disc puppets, according to 3 stage techs).

That's what I mean. They went all out for Leonardo, Cozmo, and Elfin, but did almost nothing to the puppets. All they did was add 1 or 2 cheap noisemakers to the puppets.

As for the floats, the RPU's stayed virtually untouched, but the dreamseeker floats.. it is an RPU tug pulling a 1/2" size float, consisting of Noisemakers and Shoddy lighting effects (if they worked 1/2 the time, they wouldn't be shoddy.

Then again, both parades had different directors, both of which saw the parade very differently... and this one had serious budget problems from day 1. In my opinion, they should've left it as it is, given the sage a new speech, and added more lighting effects down the promenade. And maybe add a new puppet.

I LOVED TAPESTRY OF NATIONS WHEN I SAW IT TWO YEARS AGO. THE THING I LIKED MOST WERE THE DRUMS. WHEN I SAW TAPESTRY OF DREAMS THIS YEAR, THERE SEEMED TO BE LESS DRUMS. I WAS KIND OF DISAPPOINTED. NATIONS WAS BETTER!!

I guess that explains why they are all similar :)

Mabey the change in directors not so much changed the "look" of the attraction, more like the dancing, or something? Well, like where the puppeteers do that little dance thing in the middle of the ride when all the floats stop. But if you liked ToN, then it shouldn't be to hard to enjoy this one for a short time before it is replaced, since not much has changed. At least they did something for the 100 years celebration at Epcot, though Epcot was kinda left alone for the whole thing, probably because of all the attention it got for the millenium celebration.

I absolutely love the music. I have it on the computer playing now and I have the CD.
:D

I saw ToD 3 times in one day this April. I never saw ToN.

I loved Horizons, One Little Seed and Walter doing Spaceship Earth so I can see how those of you who loved ToN can dislike ToD. If I had seen ToN I may have felt the same way.

I do love the music. That was probably the same for both. Then again as usual I am probably wrong.:o

Yes, the music is still the same, except at the beginning they say "dream" a lot :D

I think ToD sucked. It was a blatant, un-original, ripoff of ToN. They just took ToN and recycled it and added some corny un-imaginative premise. :snore:

They did it. They went from South to North then came back. About an hour and a half later they did the parade again but did not come back.
