Talking totem poles

When we visited WDW a few weeks ago, and were walking through Adventureland, I couldn't find the talking totem poles. I though they used to be in that little half circle area near the Taki Hut show.

Did they move or did Disney "retire" them?

You mean those totems that sprayed water on the kids while playing that drum music? They're gone? Bummer, they were kinda bugging when I'd spend the whole day working at Adventureland, but now I kinda miss them...

Wern't they in/near the clearing where the Flying Carpets are now?

I suppose... Haven't been there since the Millenium Celebration. They were almost in front of the Tiki Room, before the stairs leading to Jungle Cruise.

Yea, that's were I looked, but it was just an empty place where they were doing character meet and greets from time to time. I hope I just missed them, and they moved them somewhere else.

We were taking a picture last year next to them, and my wife said they were mumbiling stuff back and forth to each other.

Then according to what you're saying, they changed everything. Cause the Character Greet used to be at the corner of one of the stores on the oposite side, right by the passageway to Frontierland.

yeah, adventureland has changed quite a bit since you last saw it, mkcustodial. and i say that with much regret. that whole area has been changed to Agrabah to fit the theme of the new magic carpet ride they put in. all the old attractions are still the same, but the stores in front of swiss family robinson treehouse have now been changed in themeing. the change is alright, but i prefer the old adventureland.

I heard that they had adapted the stores to fit the new attraction, but I had no idea it was THAT extreme...

The adventureland change is not that extreme. The area near Aladdin is themed to Aladdin. They built the marketplace, the ride, and changed the flooring. The rest of Adventureland is the same. The spitting Tiki's are still there. They just haven't been spitting due to water restrictions (just like Splash Mountain hasn't been splashing people on the bridge).
