I'm not concerned as to how "talking" Mickey works. But does anyone have any insight as to why(they haven't)/are they going to roll it out to more characters. Or why they haven't rolled it out to all Mickey meet and greets?

It's easy to understand. People are quite excepting of a 5 foot tall rodent that smiles and never blinks. One that has the uncanny ability to be everywhere at the same time and is obviously hyperactive despite the fact that he has outlived all the other mice in the world about 8+ fold. However, we draw the line at a talking 5 foot mouse. That freaks people out.

Can you image how dangerous that can be. What if he runs for president. Who wouldn't vote for him. Then once elected we will all be require to pay our taxes in cheese and anyone caught with a mousetrap will be whisked away never to be seen again. I shudder to even think about it.

It requires several people and specialized equipment whereas a normal meet and greet doesn't. And a network connection from what I understand. Though that might not be what they're using these days.

The daily show Dream Along with Mickey has talking Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald at the castle at MK and I believe Five and Dime and the Red Trolley Show has talking Goofy and Mickey, respectively, at Disney's California Adventure. These are all outdoor. And MK's opening show has talking Mickey. So no, it doesn't have to be indoors.

Very fluent now.

Are you sure? When I saw him The two familes ahead of me had the exact same joke about Jack Sparrow told to them...Let's just say the second family didn't laugh...

If I recall correctly it's different bits of Tech...The DAWM Characters use more hand Puppetry with the right hand that's why many times you see the characters hands behind their back during the show so they can control the eyes and mouth...This blog has a good decription on how it works...

Is a few years old now but is outdoors at Disneyland.

Yeah but he's over a cover, my point was I thought maybe they needed a camera/speaker and couldn't just be thrown anywhere. But as I said earlier, he was used twice, the same Town Square theater technology just in different costumes. At The new fantasyland opening and the world of color premier.

When I got up to him...It was directly coming out of the head...Or ears as speakers as it didn't amplify in any other areas except where he's standing. Even if you look up there isn't anythng hidden where he's standing as it's just a curtain..

Talking characters have been used a lot more than that.
