Switching resorts one night

I know this question has been asked a few times, but I did a search and didn't really find a definite answer so here goes...
I just decided after seeing the December hours that I wanted to add an extra night to my trip. I called the reservation line and asked if I could add another night on. They didn't have another room at AKL where I am staying so I asked if the operator could check the WL for me. He said there was a room available but he was being very short with me and not answering any of my questions. Is this a common thing that people do, to stay one night at another resort? Has anyone done this before, and is it too much of a hassle? The operator was being very short with me, to the point where I wanted to hang up to see if i could handle it with someone else. I understand that I will need to put down another deposit which I am fine with. Anyone have any info about this they would like to share? Thanks in advance.

I most certainly would go ahead and book the WL for the last night if it were me. Dont leave until the very last moment that you have to! :) There is also a very good chance that you may get the opportunity to stay the last night at AKL. Someone may shorten their stay or the room may become available for the last night, you never know. So I would go ahead and book the WL, and while staying at the AKL keep checking on that last night. I personally know that Disney will try to keep you at the same hotel throughout your stay if you prefer it. (On one trip I was able to leave for Disney a day early and had ressies at the BWV's. I was told no vaccancy at BWV for the early arrival. But when I stopped in at the CBR and asked for a room, unnreserved, and told them I would be checking into BWV the next day, they called BWV themselves and got me a room! and I didn't even have to change rooms while there! So, you never know.)

As far as the CM, it can be hit or miss with them. In years past, they were always wonderful to help make reservations. Its not necessarily the case nowadays. I know they are people too, but this IS disney so I hold my standard higher. If the wait time wasn't long, I would try cutting the call short if it wasn't a pressing reservation, and redial for another CM. But thats just me.

Yeah, last year we had to do the same thing, spent a night at Coronado after getting off our late flight in, and transferred to Riverside the next day. Why they were short with you I don't know, but we had minimal hassle, the only thing was our room the next day wasn't ready until usual check-in time, and our luggage took some time to get transferred to RS from Coronado (I think) Of Course we just took what we needed, and hit the parks, and it all worked out in the end. Hopefully it goes as well for you.

Thanks for the responses! I called this AM and got a reservation for a pool view room at AKL for that extra night. I wasn't able to get it at the AP rate, but it's ok because it will save us the hassle of having to switch resorts during our stay. The woman that helped me was very nice and was able to set everything up for me. I'm so happy we're getting to stay an extra night!!! :)
