Why?

I dunno, partly becuase that whats started it all, and partly becuase it seems to take more work and talent to make 2-d pictures, and as the end result, you get these beautiful drawings.

In what ways does it / does it not improve its quality?

Sometimes it does help, particularly if theres a scene thats hard to animate.

4. In your opinion, what impact has Disney made into the animated film industry?
A whole lot. And thats all I can say.

What factor made you decide on such ranking? (or what is your reason for choosing that film as no. 1)

The Lion King has always been my favorite, and seems to have all the important elements that an animated movies needs, however, B&B comes very close to it. I've never really liked Atlantis as much partly because the great music is not there. Where are the singing characters? There is none. That was one of Atlantis' faults. Dinosaur had the potential to be a great movie- the cgi was great as was the music, and the whole idea of a dinosaur being raised by monkeys was very promisng, (i love the opening scene), but the rest of the storyline was cliche. (big bad t-rex, some sort of natural disaster, that forces the characters to leave and set out for the "promised land" Land before Time, anyone?)

6. Recent animated films have merged the use of 2d and 3d animation. What can you say about this?

Its not so bad, but I do perfer either straight 2d or straight 3d

7. What are the possible factors as to why animators choose to employ computer graphics?

First, probably because its easier, and second, they think that cgi movies appear to better, than traditional animated movies.

3D animation

Why?

Aside from the fact that I'm a 3D animator? I feel its just a cleaner/faster medium to work with. Rumor has it that 3D animation is a "lazy" way out, this is so untrue. It takes the same, if not MORE talent to do thing in 3D.

Yep

In what ways does it / does it not improve its quality?

It helps create a new level or realism that pulls you into the movie.

4. In your opinion, what impact has Disney made into the animated film industry?

There would be no Animation Film indstury if it wasnt for Disney. Period.

What factor made you decide on such ranking? (or what is your reason for choosing that film as no. 1)

Lion King was a HUGE success for the company. It helped lift the company to new heights. It is the reason a lot of my fellow animators decided to get into the art in the first place.


6. Recent animated films have merged the use of 2d and 3d animation. What can you say about this?

Great! Its good to combine the best of both worlds.

7. What are the possible factors as to why animators choose to employ computer graphics?

Its appealing to the new generation as well as the old. Its something "different". It also opens new doors, the possibility to create something that was impossible to do in earlier years.
