First trip to Disney World!!!!!

Hi,

I'm taking my 4 year old son to Walt Disney World in June - staying at The Art of Animation. He thinks we are going to Spain and I don't plan on telling him until the morning we go. Any ideas or tips on how to do it??? I won't have a great deal of time in the morning as we are more or less up and straight to the airport!!

Thanks

good suggestions here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/surprise-disney-trip.881946/

Our puzzle trick worked well enough a few weeks in advance but if you're going to reveal that morning, I think you're kind of limited.

What about finding a nice rolling carry-on backpack with his favorite character on it and stuffing it with fun stuff for the plane ride. present it to him when he wakes up so he has the incentive to get moving out the door!

we surprised our son 2 years ago at 3. We told him we were going to visit my wife's cousin. Then we rolled through the gate and he was like "Whaaaaaaaaaaa-". There's nothing like catching them when they are totally unaware of the situation. He was so happy and it was an amazing day. A friend of mine let his daughter know beforehand and she was able to mentally prepare herself. So the "big reveal" was kind of a let down. In the end it's your choice and no one knows your kid better than you. Good luck.

Visit Youtube and type in Disney surprise and you will get many great videos on how to surprise kids as well as ones that go very wrong lol
I just watched a couple of these and now I know I'm going to spend this evening on Youtube when I should be getting ready for my trip :joyfull:

We are planning on surprising my son, who will be 3 in June. My wife and I have been making plans with him in the room though, thinking that he wouldn't put two and two together, but yesterday we realized we were dead wrong when he kept asking when he'll see Mickey.

We've done several surprise trips. My fave was our 2011 trip back when my girls were 2 and 4 (well, about to turn 5). Neither could read yet, so we just told them we were heading someplace very special. We spent 2 days driving from Texas to the Orlando area...spent the night about 3 miles outside of the Disney Maingate...and then got out really early the next morning for the big surprise reveal. We literally revealed the surprise as the Maingate came into view. We then checked into our resort (just after 7am) and headed to MK for a pre-park opening breakfast at Crystal Palace.

The video is kind of shaky, my husband's windshield is cracked (which bugs me), and I'm a smidge off on my musical cue, but still kind of fun.
