My family (DH and 2 DD) have been gifted a trip to Disney. This will be the kids 3rd trip. We are pros at navigating the value resorts as we have done Pop and AoA in the last 3 years. We have opted for Port Orleans-riverside this time and I am just looking for any tips on staying here! @riverside I expect you will have lots of info!!

The Skyliners make Pop and AoA so much more convenient.

We tried to get CBR so we could use the skyliner but all that was available was the pirate rooms and we just didn't like that option. If we were paying for the trip, we would be at Pop!

My tip would be to request a building close to the preferred ones (unless you have the budget to book a preferred room in the first place) in Alligator Bayou. PORS is very spread-out, so shortening your walk to the main building/pool and the primary bus depot is helpful.

Also, take advantage of the ferry to Disney Springs if you want to do any shopping or dining there.

There's also a walking path between PORS and POFQ, which when we stayed at PORS, came in handy one night when we were trying to leave the MK and couldn't seem to catch a bus for PORS, so we hopped one bound for POFQ instead and had a pleasant 10-minute walk along the Sassagoula River path to our room at PORS.

We were able to book a preferred room, it was only 225 more for the week. Glad to hear it will be worth the little extra!

I love Riverside, one of my favorites. If the trip permits, i'd recommend scheduling time to really enjoy the resort, it is beautiful and has lots to do:
1) Walk (or take the boat) to the French QUarter resort for beignets, it is a beautiful walk!
2) Take the boat to Disney Springs (the ride itself is worth it since it is very scenic as the boat passed the treehouses and saratoga) plus you can use it to usually get to Disney springs for shopping or dining!
3) The pool is very fun and pretty big!
4) Yehaa Bob (musician/entertainer) plays at the lounge and he is a hoot! He is fun for the entire family and the show is perfect for kids and adults!
5) There are paid activities like a horse-drawn carriage and fishing.
6) There are many food options (aside from getting the boat to DS): There is a sit-down restaurant, a quick service restaurant, some food at the lounge as well as the French Quarter quick service a short walk away!

Definitely take time to check out the resort if you can. It is beautiful!!
-The carriage rides are fun. They're about 20 minutes long or so.
-The food court is good with a lot of choices. FQ's is good also & it's nowhere near as busy as The Riverside Mill.
-Boatwright's(the table service restaurant) is very good.
-The boat to Disney Springs is a nice change from the buses!
-Muddy Rivers(the pool bar on Ol' Man Island) is a nice place to relax & have a drink.
-I can't say enough about YeHaa Bob!! His shows are so much fun!! They start around 8:30(Wednesday-Saturday) so I would get there an hour or so before it starts b/c it will fill up.
-Try the loaded tater tots and/or the hummingbird cake at The River Roost:hungry:
-Sunday mornings they have a beignet fun run(1.5 miles) for $15.00. It starts at FQ, goes through Riverside & back. You get an order of beignets for participating.
-It is nice that you can hop on a FQ bus & it is a pretty walk back.
-The South Depot(the main bus stop) can get quite crazy during peak times.

Have a great trip!!:)
