Surprise Feb trip animal kingdom

Hello I am needing advice we are planning our second trip in a year and looking at feb12th-16th using our dvc our home resort is BLT but considering something different for this trip my daughter really wants to stay at animal kingdom with a savannah view she doesn't know we are considering it we are going to pack her bag and pick her up from school and drive down. My question is how is the parks and weather around that time? Is the bus waits that big of a deal staying at animal kingdom our main parks will be magic kingdom and Hollywood studios my DD's are 11 and a month shy of 3 thanks for all your guys help

When I was a full time teacher, that would be around the time I would go - arrive the Friday before President's Day and stay for the week.

I have had fantastic weather....and I have had weather that required I wear my leather jacket the entire trip. It really is the luck of mother nature. But, for the number of years that I went, the nicer (warmer) weather was the usual.

If it is President's Week, you will see larger crowds since many of the schools are closed up north and people flock down to escape the doldrums of a New England winter. They are manageable, however - use the extra magic hours, plan out your fastpass usage and devise a rough idea for where you want to tour on what day.

I did stay at AKL and absolutely loved it. Waking up and seeing the animals - even at 3am - was fan-freaking-tastic! Loved the room, loved the hotel, loved the pool. I did not find the bus transportation all that bad. Sometimes I would play bus roulette - whatever the next bus that pulled in was the one I would take. I had more of a problem with the bus system at Saratoga than I did at AKL. But, it can vary - you might be stuck for 30 - 40 mins waiting for a MK bus for instance because the busses on the route are helping handicapped on/off, there is a delay somewhere, it is shift change.... but nothing that you should get too upset over. If you have an ADR at a park, give yourself a good 90 mins from your room to the restaurant considering busses.....

Thank you for the information we planned on coming down the week before Presidents' Day and leaving the day before it arriving weds morning and leaving late Sunday we were the for two weeks at the end of last may so this trip will be just trying to relax and let the girls do the things they love most we have annual passes so figured we might as well get another trip out of them...lol we loved staying at magic kingdom until it closed and then take our time walking back to BLT so it's hard thinking ok waiting on busses but I figured it wouldn't be horrible and plus we want to stay at all the dvc resorts .....
