Has anyone been to Surfs Up character breakfast with Mickey? What did you think?

And what about the Plaza Inn character breakfast?

I did the Surfs Up breakfast once earlier this year, with young nieces and nephews. The food is served buffet style, with waffle and omelet custom-build stations. The food quality was surprisingly good, and there were plenty of options. The servers did a great job of keeping the coffee cups and juice glasses filled throughout. There's a little show going on every 15 minutes or so, with a perky hostess on microphone who gets the kids collected and then Mickey and Minnie come out in beach togs and dance and cavort with the kids over in a beachy corner of the restaurant. Parents trip over themselves to capture it all on film, and I just stared at the spectacle and thought how I'd like to still be in bed.

I am NOT a morning person and the perky, perky, PERKY nature of this morning venue wasn't really my style.

But... the service was great, the food was good, and for what it was it served its purpose well. Pluto and Donald came around and said hello to our table, in addition to Mickey and Minnie. The whole thing took about an hour.

The Plaza Inn Breakfast is a different thing, as you select your food from a cafeteria style line, then pay, then go find a table. The Characters come to your table as you eat your selected food. It's not quite as full-service and scripted as the Surfs Up breakfast at the Paradise Pier Hotel.
