I was just surfing YouTube for Disney Park ride throughs and I came across a video of Super Star Limo. Like, OMG, I heard that it was awful but I can't help but disagree more! It was super fun and I love how colorful it was! I also enjoy seeing all of the celebrities. :) It really made me feel like a star.

How could anyone hate this ride? I honestly don't understand what's so bad about it. It looks like it had so much time and effort put into it, honestly, the detail is up there with Haunted Mansion and Pirates! I think it's even better than Horizons and Journey Into Imagination!

I'm kinda mad they took it out now... Guess I'll never get to see this guy in real life now... :(

APRIL FOOLS!

This was just a little April Fools prank I thought up! I really just wanted to wish you all a Good Friday(that's when I posted this!), happy April fools day and last but certainly not least, HAPPY EASTER! (And spring break for any students out there!) I hope you all enjoy yourselves, have a good easter service( if you go to Easter services), eat lots of candy and enjoy time with friends and family!

(I hope this isn't considered spam, but I will understand if it gets moved. After April 1st, I will add to the title: (April Fools Prank!).

Super Star Limo would have been one of my favorite rides just for how embarrassingly bad it was. I can't be the only one who feels this way.
I was showing this attraction to a friend of mine the other day and we both came to the same opinion. It's like Plan 9 from Outer Space or The Room but for theme parks. Great, awful, unintentional humor that you have to appreciate for its ineptness.

I didn’t think it was as bad as some said it was. At least the concept was original and not based an existing studio franchise. IMO it was more amusing than what took its place.

I was one of those who loved it, along with my colleagues...

It gave us so much to write about, and how SOOOO bad it was, it became like a Rocky Horror Picture Show, but in a bad way.....

Here’s how Orange County Register writer Lisa Liddane described the brand new ride in an article on February 4, 2001:

Superstar Limo is about as cheesy as the National Enquirer. You know you’re in for a letdown when you’re greeted at LAX by Joan Rivers’ animated talking head, which, by the way, actually looks better than the real person. Joan, honey, you and Disney need to have a talk about your animated makeover.

Regis Philbin holds a wad of bills, Cindy Crawford spritzes perfume and Jackie Chan grins from above as you cruise along in your burgundy limo. I don’t get it. I’m ready for my close-up, but this isn’t it.

The Sunday travel section of the Rocky Mountain News (Denver, Colorado) had this description of Superstar Limo on February 11, 2001:

This attraction in Hollywood Pictures Backlot stands out because it’s so “whelming”—that’s worse than underwhelming. Billed as “a wild ride through L.A.’s star-studded streets,” it’s inane. But maybe it will play well in La La Land. Besides, Disney honcho Michael Eisner supposedly loves it, and that’s all that counts.

The idea is that you’re a star who’s just arrived at LAX to sign a big movie deal. A limo picks you up at the airport, where the PA system broadcasts, “Keep arms, legs and egos inside the car at all times,” and “no parking, no whining, no schmoozing, no white after Labor Day.” You ride past familiar audio-animatronic faces, including Drew Carey, who’s hawking maps of stars’ homes in Beverly Hills, and Regis Philbin holding a wad of bills. Then there’s Joan Rivers’ animated talking head, which the Orange County Register said looks better than the real person.

Margo Kutner of Mission Viejo, Calif., aptly called it “a one-time, cutesy ride.” Superstar Limo proves that even the talented Disney imagineers can make errors on occasion. Don’t bother standing in long lines, even if you’re a Hollywood groupie.

Disney management closed the ride after less than one year.Reportedly, the typical guest reaction to the ride had been so negative that the park was actually stronger when the only dark ride in the park was closed.<<

Let me add, I was invited to many off the record and moan sessions involving some senior Disney and WDI folks, both current and retired, and the SSL period was one thing everyone would agree on, and all used it to bash Michael Eisner.

The Save Disney period was a very unique period, where some folks said some things on the record, and then do a total 180 at the anything goes, what is wrong with Eisner and Pressler talks. And the names "Michael" and "Paul" were never used, more choice terms were used.

Since I was a guest, I can't tell any stories, but who knows, maybe after I die, someone will find my notes that were drawn up after leaving the events...

I think I will say that once, someone caught us at the Amber Waves Bar back room, which was supposedly closed off, and heck, nobody really came in there anyways.... I got stuck trying to explain what was NOT going on, and it wasn't what it seemed to be. And the person got the hint, and was persuaded to agree that nothing was going on....

For all his faults, I would take Michael Eisner over Bob Iger. Perhaps he had his blunders (Paris, California Adventure and Stitch etc.) but without him, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios wouldnt exist today. And I have to say, after having been to Disneyland California and Walt Disney World, I like California Adventure better than some of the parks here. And I think Iger ruined DCA's greatest gift to Disney theme parks (Soarin' Over California). That's just me though.

Tl;dr Eisner was far more willing to take risks. Big risks = big rewards.... when they're smart risks lol

Superstar Limo would have been great if they'd just added one scene to the very end: Ugly caricature statues of Michael Eisner and Paul Pressler pointing at the riders and laughing, with the classic fun house "Laughing Lady" audio blaring from their mouths.
