Am I the only one who was expecting something totally different?

No. The media hypes up the super moon with their normal "don't let the facts get in the way of a good story" gusto. The reality is that the "super moon" is only 14% larger than the full moon at apogee. The difference is so small that most can not tell the difference between a super moon and a regular moon without a measuring instrument.
