SunPass Transponders

I posted this question last month on another thread in here, but got a different answer than I did from SunPass, so I'll ask it here. I bought one of the SunPass portable transponders last summer, anticipating that we were going to drive to WDW for our trip last November. Well, we ended up flying. We are going back to WDW next November, so my question is this-do the portable transponders have a power source in them, and if they do, will mine have run out after over 2 years of non-use? The email I got from SunPass said that I would have to buy a new one, but others have said that mine will still be fine. If I have to buy a new one, no big deal, but if I can use the one I bought last year, then I don't have to worry about buying a new one.

I’ve been using mine for over two years, no problems. If they are anything like EZ-Pass it will work for 10 years. Near my 10 year anniversary Illinois sent me a letter saying I had to exchange my old one for a new one at a Jewel-Osco, also it was free.

I have had mine over 5 years and it still worked when we went to Disney World last May.

We have one of the mini ones that you stick to the windshield and it has been working fine since 2011. We took it off the van and put it on my truck for a few months back in the winter of 2017, then stuck it back on the van that May. The main thing is to go to your account and make sure to change the vehicle and licence plate number. Forgot to switch it back to the truck for our 2017 summer trip and just ended up buying one for the truck at the rest area.
