Sun and Fun Changed

No idea if this is the forum this belongs in, but....

I noticed this morning that Disney World resort reservations were not working. They are back up now and they've changed the Sun and Fun dates. Now there are no more discounted rates after May 27 for regular reservations. Passholder Sun and Fun still going through June 30. Really, really glad we booked our early August dates early. We are paying $170 a night (water view sun and fun) for Caribbean. Now it would be $236 a night.

Well, there is a separate sub-forum for WDW Hotels and Resorts... but this is borderline News and Rumors...

If @The Mom thinks it's appropriate, she'll move it.

One set of discounts ended yesterday. It was in the fine print
That is interesting because until yesterday you could see Fun and Sun rates until the end of September and they were advertised as such (we actually switched from a Coronado Sun and Fun to a Caribbean Sun and Fun yesterday for April so I know the rates were there). Wonder if they meant to release a second set of discounts today but Disney's IT messed up?

Yeah the booking was through September but it had to be booked by yesterday. I found this from an article as an example

  • Up to 30 percent off at the Jambo House and Kidani Village at the Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney BoardWalk Villas, the Old Key West Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa from May 28 through September 30. The offer features up to 25 percent off those same hotels for stays between April 28 and May 27.
  • 25 percent off at Disney’s Beach Club Villas from May 28 through September 30 and 15 percent off from April 28 through May 27.
  • 15 percent off Boulder Ridge Villas at the Wilderness Lodge, Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort, Copper Creek Villas at the Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows for the duration of the offer.

Thanks. Guess I just assumed it would be bookable beyond that. So, guess my post was not necessary. Thanks for the clarification. Hoping they will release passholder rates for August and late September so we might be able to get our rate down a little.

I think the likelihood that you will see passholder rates after SW:GE opens are slim to none.

Mousesavers show that the discounts were suppose to be available to book through 5/27/19 (3/24/19) for full availability. I got sent an ad through the mail that also listed the booking dates for sun and fun through 5/27/19. I'm glad we booked when we did and didn't wait.

The other thing I think that has happened is that Pop has gone to a Value+ of sorts. I know it was always a little more than the All Star trio, but now it is considerably more expensive per night at rack rate. December 25-31 for example. A Standard Room at Pop is $246/night. All Stars are each $196/night. That is a lot of money over the course of a week.

Welcome to the Skyliner resorts! AoA and POP > All Stars. Especially once SW:GE is open.

This was bound to happen sooner or later.

I know. Unfortunately I don't think I will be willing to fork that much over for Pop in the future and I really didn't enjoy the one All Stars stay we had. May have to re-think the number of trips we make next year. Luckily we booked all of our trips for 2019 before the rate hikes.

We had a bad stay at All Star Sports, but tried AS Movies with a much better experience. Of course, you will want to check to see if there are a gazillion young, loud people coming for some kind of tournament, etc. before you book. (I'm sure there must be at least a few of them who are quiet and courteous at 1:00 a.m.) right??

You will still see AP Discounts, regardless of SWGE. They may not be as generous as they have been in the past (especially for September) but they will crop up soon. Even after SWGE, Disney still has to fill the rest of the parks and IMO the AP Room discounts go a long way also to help F&W at Epcot.

I just booked the Pop last night for our trip in June. Paid an average of $124 a night with our AP discount. As much as I love the Pop, I can't imagine paying $246 a night, Skyliner or not. It's not worth it IMHO. As someone who generally stays in value hotels when visiting Disney, it looks like my options in the future will be the All-Stars or staying off-property.
