What are some of ya'll's favorite places to book your dining reservations and why?

Preferably on the $-$$ side..nothing too pricey. We have morning reservations one day for Chef Mickeys which Im thrilled about. But, we are staying for a full week and are thinking of doing dinner or lunch reservations at one more place.

What are your favorite munching spots and if anyone could give me their expereince from Chef Mickey's that would be great too!

Beaches and Cream ($) at the Beach Club is a fun experience. Now it is technically a table service but I doubt you will need a reservation but you could make one just in case. I think Whispering Canyon Café ($-$$) looks good (though I've never been) but there are good reviews!

As for Chef Mickey's I've never done breakfast there. However, dinner...lets just say you pay for the experience, not the food ;)

Hmm... the "not so pricey" limitation sort of puts a wrench in things for me because truthfully I don't know what they cost because I'm always on the dining plan???

But, my favorites are 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian for Cinderella's dinner and Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. This isn't a meal per se, but at the Ft. Wilderness Campground they have a S'mores roasting with an outdoor movie that Chip and Dale come to. You have to provide your own S'more ingredients (you can buy them there, but they're expensive). That's just a casual gathering that anyone can go to. We always love to go.

Depending on when you'll be there, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue at Fort Wilderness Campground was pretty good. My 3 year old, at the time, had a ball.

I don't think so either but, Im thinking of just doing a walk in. Is this the place that does the "kitchen sink"?

They don't take reservations, and they do offer the kitchen sink. If you go at an off time you shouldn't have too hard a time getting a table, but prime meal/dessert time could mean a decent wait.

If you are trying to keep it more affordable, look to booking lunch instead of dinner as some locations still offer cheaper prices for lunch. As far as favorites, Boma, Restaurant Marrakesh, and Sanaa are all favorites. Sanaa and Boma are a bit out of the way since they are AKL, but Sanaa is pretty affordable, and Boma is a buffett.

Thanks! I have always wanted to try Boma. That is a definite one on my list of places to try in 2013 on one of our trips :)

Geat choice ts on the cheap Plaza Restaurant in MK and Be Our Guest very reasonable out of pocket if you can get in. I think Crystal Palace is a good deal for all you can eat and Pooh breakfast ot lunch. We always stop at Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT it is cs but has very good food and an excellent selection. Another cs is Tangerine Cafe in the Morrocan pavillion they have platters that can easily be split among a couple of people. Happy eating.

My picks for not-too-pricey table service options would be (ordered geographically, for your touring plan convenience):

Magic Kingdom:
The Wave - Contemporary (Walk from the park or use resort monorail loop from Magic Kingdom)
Grand Floridian Cafe - Grand Floridian (Resort monorail loop from Magic Kingdom)
Kona Cafe - Polynesian (Resort monorail loop from Magic Kingdom)
The Plaza - Magic Kingdom

Epcot/Hollywood Studios:
Cabana Bar and Grill - Dolphin (Walk from parks or use Friendship boat)
The Fountain - Dolphin (Walk from parks or use Friendship boat)
Big River Grille - Boardwalk (Walk from parks or use Friendship boat)
San Angel Inn - Epcot

Animal Kingdom:
Yak and Yeti - Animal Kingdom
Sanaa - Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani House (Take resort bus from Animal Kingdom)

Downtown Disney:
Wolfgang Puck Cafe - Downtown Disney Westside
House of Blues - Downtown Disney Westside
Boatwright's Dining Hall - Port Orleans Riverside (Ferry boat from Downtown Disney)
Olivia's Cafe - Old Key West (Ferry boat from Downtown Disney)

Now, not all of these are necessarily favorites, but depending on what and how you order, these are all relatively low cost table service options. My favorites on the list, by area, would be the Grand Floridian Cafe, Cabana Bar, Sanaa and Olivia's. As far as "bang for your buck" goes, I think Olivia's and Sanaa offer the best menus for the price.

Boatwright's, San Angel and the Grand Floridian Cafe all also have good to great menus, but they can be a bit on the pricier side, depending on what and how much you order. I still consider these good values, however. In fact, the both Boatwright's and the Grand Floridian Cafe might serve the best steak dishes you can get on property without paying signature restaurant prices.

Hope some of this helps.

Ditto on Beaches & Cream. We went at an off time and were seated right away. It was also quite inexpensive...for WDW that is.

We've done Chef Mickey's for breakfast and dinner...breakfast is definitely the way to go...at least from our experiences. The food at dinner when we went was pretty terrible.

Beyond that...sometimes you can economize by picking a place with a standard menu. Many kids portions are big enough for sharing...and then you can also work with some of the more economical options on the menu. There are a number of places we like to eat, but I just don't know what exactly will qualify for more affordable since everything at WDW is jacked up a bit and then some in price. While just an example, I was looking at the lunch menu at Rose & Crown in Epcot, and there are a number of more reasonable options for a cheaper TS meal.

You might want to scour the menus on Allears and see what you can get for the $.
