Suggestions for dining inside the 180 day window

We had to wait to make our reservations for our WDW trip. The good news is we only have to wait for 140 days at this point. The bad news is we are having a very difficult time finding any dining reservation. Any suggestions for less popular dining that may still be available? (We are still checking and holding out hope for lots of cancellations closer to the trip days.)

The best thing to do is just see what is available for a certain meal around your location. If you are going to be in Epcot and you are looking for dinner simply enter that information into the search criteria and choose from what pops up.

Yeah, you should probably just do a search. Don't rule out visiting a nearby resort for a meal either. Many people don't want to leave the park to eat out of inconvenience, but it's nice to take a break sometimes.

On a previous trip we ate at Restaurant Marrakesh in EPCOT and loved it. It is not of of the most popular dining destinations and there always seems to be reservations available. What are some other hidden gems like that in the parks?

Biergarten in Germany at Epcot is good if you are into German food.

The Plaza at MK is good if you are not on the DDP(Not much bang for your buck so pay cash if you are). For places close to MK Kona at the Poly, Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge and Trails End at Ft Wilderness are all good choices and fairly easy to get an ADR at.

For DHS...look to the neighboring resorts especially the Swan and Dolphin.

In the parks...
MK: Skipper Canteen - I think the menu comes off as intimidating to some but I loved it!
EP: Marrakesh like you said, but I prefer Spice Road Table. Epcot shouldn't be too hard to find something since there are so many restaurants there.
HS: Between 50's, Sci-Fi, and Mama, you should be able to grab something, albeit not at optimal times.
AK: If you can't get Tusker House or Yak & Yeti, I would probably try the new QS options there.

Tiffins if you want a really good meal in AK:hungry::hungry::hungry: Like others have said check out some of the resort restaurants, you'll have better luck grabbing an ADR. Sanaa hint, hint

Have you tried the reservation finder on Touring Plans? I have had a lot of success with it! I was able to get an 'Ohana reservation a couple of days ago and I am almost 100 days out :)
As for easy to get restaurants I would suggest Skipper Canteen.

Just search. That's really the best you can do. Checking nearby resorts can be helpful, as those tend to be a bit more forgiving especially since there are several options each in the MK and Epcot resort area. Grab the best option at the time and then keep looking. If something better opens up, then change to that. But everyone wants to eat at the same time in the park. So you either need to eat early/late, or go elsewhere.

Check the non-character places at the resorts.. especially those not on the monorail. A lot of times, they are primarily only used by those staying at those resorts.

Thank goodness for the new Minnie vans! I'll need to use them to get from resort to resort. I got a Wilderness Lodge - Whispering Canyon breakfast reservation at Christmas time. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for the suggestions.
