Suggestions - Brazilian Groups (youtube)

Hi everyone, how are you doing? I've been reading many comments online (here and also on facebook groups) about the noisy and loud Brazilian tour groups. I am from Brazil and I also hate them. I understand why they act like this though. There are better explanations you can read about here (if you're interested): themeparkinsider.com/flume/201504/4531/

But my thread is not to talk about them exactly, because I know there is another thread to talk about this subject. Here's the thing: I have worked (for only 10 days) in a Brazilian agency to sell Disney packages and the reason why I left was because all they focus about when selling it are the parties, the fun of being "away from parents" and all of that. Not once they talk about the parks and how great they are. I know teens in general use to care about those stuff, but as a teacher I know they have other interests too. I believe if they were motivated to see how GREAT and amazing Disney Word is, their experience/trip would be much better and more pleasant (not only for them, but for the visitors of the parks too). If all the marketing is focused on "partying/shopping", of course they will care only for this.

So I'm trying to change this situation. I have a youtube channel (it's small, but I'm also a teacher, I teach teens. So this may help) and I'd like make a video talking about how you can enjoy Disney Parks/Orlando when you're 15. Like a list. "Top 10: things to do/see in Disney World to enjoy your trip when you are 15" or something like that. hahaha I want different stuff, fun stuff, I want to make them feel what we feel when going there.

Can you help me? Can you give me any suggestions for this videos? I'm writing my script.

That is a great idea! Those brazilian tour groups can be and are obnoxious. I worked for WDW in 98-99 and saw first hand how they act and heard the comments from other guests! But your idea is great and kudos to you for taking on such a tremendous undertaking.
I think in order to get them to really enjoy the parks the way we do is to emphasis more of the reason we go to Disney. I think for us it's more out of nostalgia and the philosophy of Walt Disney himself! If it weren't for Walt, I often wonder what the American theme park would look like! But to get this across to others from other countries, will be an undertaking. We(USA) grew up with Walt Disney and everything that went with it all our lives! I think that they should be taught what is expected of them when visiting a Disney park. It's not just the shopping and the partying, its looking around and seeing the vision of one man and his dream to create a world that you can go to have a TRUE vacation and the cares of the world. Inside a Disney park, all your troubles SHOULD melt away for the time you are there and realize that you need to respect others that on vacation as well. Some of them have saved for years, just to spend a few days in another World!

Top 10 list from a 15 year old? might want to contact 15 year olds that have gone to Disney or at least have an interest in Disney. More importantly, the ADULTS in the group should be enforcing the good behavior of their group as well! I wish Disney would/could make them follow certain rules or better yet build a South American Disneyland! Good luck can't wait to see the fruits of your labor!

I don't think that growing up with Disney is a requirement. I think the most best thing to do is simply explain customs in the US and what will make you look like an outsider... Honestly explain to them at if they act like the typical Brazilian group people will think they are as bad as Argentinians, that's probably got a better chance of working than trying to give a history lesson on Disney.

How about telling them that they are molding the idea of what Brazilians are like to the rest of the world. We know that children will be children, but if they knew that as a result of their behavior their country can either gain or lose its reputation ? Please apologize in advance to them for the conduct of our own cheerleaders. :)

Thank you very much for your feedback!! You are right, we have to emphasis more on what we feel when going to Disney and the reasons we go there. I'll try to think on a great list!!

Thanks again!

@carolahmed, I'm just curious what is the occasion that so many Brazilians go to Disney? Why is it usually in July? Sometimes it seems as if ALL of Brazil is there. I've never observed bad behavior though, just seems more crowded. The cheering and chanting doesn't bother me either. It's quite festive actually.

I wonder how the new fast pass system will affect them. They won't be able to have one person stand at a fast pass kiosk to get 30 at a time anymore. :cautious:

I'm sorry, I know you have the best intentions, but I think you missed the point here. They are teenagers, as you said "children will be children", and turns out most Brazilians have more energy and are more passionate than any other people in the world. Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's bad. But this is not my point here, specially because is there a "right" behavior anyway? Is there a tutorial on "how to behave on Disney parks"? I don't like loud people, Brazilians or not, but thats just me. And I'm sure that not everyone agrees with me.

Again, I think the main problem is that they miss a very special place focusing on the wront stuff. We pay a LOT of money by going to the USA, and unfortunately going there is not something everybody here can afford. I just want to help them realize that there is much more to see and to enjoy than "partying/shopping". That's my point!!

Is it a parade? A ride? A show? What would you recommend? What would you tell them as an advice to enjoy a wonderful trip to its fullest?

Hi there!! Thanks for replying! :)

I know many groups go on other months too, not only in July, but this is the month we have winter in Brazil and most of Brazilians don't like the cold weather. So they go in July to enjoy the water parks and the summer. Also, many agencies don't even offer group trips for other time of the year, so they don't have another option if they want to go with a guide and their friends.

I think maybe a good idea would be to suggest Universal and Islands of Adventure. They have many more "thrill" rides that I know teenagers would really enjoy! Disney World is way too babyish for them. Maybe you could start a whole new trend of them going there. :angelic:
You have a very good point. I know my own daughter got tired of Disney by the time she was 13... as you put it, it is a bit babyish for teens. That may be the reason that teens tend to get in trouble or cause trouble at Disney in the first place.

If I were a teenager again I would actually prefer Universal over Disney any day of the week.

Which begs a question of the OP... Do the teens in Brazil not know about Universal? Is there a reason they go to Disney but not Universal?

They already go there too. I got stuck with a group of them in the single rider line for Mummy.

Yes, disparaging the entire population of Argentina. That must be the answer.

You have no idea what the post meant. Brazilians and Argentinians do not get along, they have a historic rivalry that included several border wars. What I said was disparaging to no one.

I remember sitting in Fantasmic and the two groups had a big chant off! It was all in good fun.
