Such unprofessionalism with Casting

Im only here to vent and voice my concern. This is in no way an attack on the Disney Company (which i still love) or Castmembers (whom I someday hope to be).

I have experienced such unprofessionalism in the past two months that its disgusting! I began applying in March with the hopes of being hired and moving to Orlando sometime in June. Despite my background I was only finally called for a seasonal position. On several occasions I had called casting and even gone in person just to check my rehire status. I was always told I was fine. So I decided to drive up and interview at the interview I was told I was a No for rehire. The recruiter was very unhelpful not willing to explain why that was or what I should do next. Instead she actually tried to turn me off to the position by saying only thing left was custodial and at World Wide of Sports. I returned home and send an appeal letter with the hopes of getting my status changed. A month later I went back in and was applied for a position with DCL. Within a few days I had a phone interview and I asked what my status was. The recruiter said I was fine. So I moved forward with the interview and was moved to the second stage. A few days later another recruiter called to set up a face to face interview. I again asked what my status was and was then told I was still a no for rehire. That he was unable to help since my first recruiter (the one I met when I applied for the seasonal position) was the person handling it. I gave her a call and left her a massage and a few days later I received the new that I was cleared. So I set up the in person interview for the DCL position.

A week after the interview I was called and offered a position lower then the one I applied for. Mine you I have over 10 years of experience working for a cruise line in all areas of the company including sales. I assumed the position paid less however the recruiter was unable to tell me but said he call me back. Two weeks go by and I still had not heard back from the recruiter. I had seen the position I was offered posted and removed and at a much lower salary then I could afford to move on. I was hoping i get a call back and at least be offered and salary similar to the one I applied for but no such luck.

I decided to apply at the Disney Store and since then ( going to wrap this up).

1) the interviewer took two personal phone calls during the interview (non emergency) the calls took longer then my interview
2) I was offered the position however they thought I was someone else
3) They called back saying they had send me an email that I never got again they thought I was someone else.
4) I am now suppose to go fill out paper work however they have not told me when I start the position or any more details about the position.

Its Crazy!!! but I will move forward and do what I have to. I was just expecting more professionalism.

I'll be blunt. At Disney, it's not about your qualifications: it's about who you are, who you know, and who's *** you've sucked. I know of ivy league grads who were hired into entry-level attractions roles, and of top tier law grads who couldn't get a legal- or even a professional- job at Disney

1) the interviewer took two personal phone calls during the interview (non emergency) the calls took longer then my interview

Write a letter to Disney, make an issue of this - THIS is your primary complaint. THIS is where disciplinary action can come from.

Its Crazy!!! but I will move forward and do what I have to. I was just expecting more professionalism.

You expected wrong. It stinks to tell you that.

It one thing to be eager of getting a job anywhere, but what you listed seemed like you were being more of an annoyance than anything. Not trying to be rude, but if you give a company hassle before you even have the job, it doesn't look too good on your part...

I dont think I was being annoying just trying to get a straight answer and no more run around. Three different people at casting told me I was a yes rehire so I made the drive up there just to be given a very cold no without even an explanation or a way to appeal.

I was then called for a phone interview with DCL which i passed and was asked to come in for the second phase on the interview process. I asked asked the new recruiter what my status was and again i was told no. Since this recruiter seemed more pleasant and helpful I asked what I had to do to correct that. He told me he could not help me and I had to speak to the original recruiter I saw.

The restriction was lifted and I was able to interview for a reservation position. A week later I was called and offered a lower reservation position then the one I applied for. The recruiter told me he call me back with more details. That was over 3 weeks ago I emailed him twice and called once to follow up and nothing,

In the mean time I decided to apply at the Disney Store where during the interview the manager took two personal phone calls. After several more hiccups (see above) I was offered the position and I start training Wednesday.

I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and I surely hope the worst is in the past. Im happy with what I got and look forward to it.
