So on the last day of our trip, we split up to get some things finished up before going home. I'm standing in line with dd to meet Elsa and Anna when I get a text from dh that they are stuck on top of the big hill at Screamin. Of course I thought, meh, good story for later until I got the same text from my mom about 5 min later. I realized my 9 year old ds was in the mix somewhere as they were single riders. I didn't rush back there as I assumed they would be off by the time I got to them. Dd and I waited for princesses and went over to meet Olaf so about 45 minutes had passed and they were still stuck.
It was determined ds was on the train ahead of dh and it was also stuck on the track but had been evacuated after about 10 minutes as it was close to the ground. Here is where things get crazy. When I arrive, there is NO sign of my ds and the process was started to get security involved. Then the awesome guest relations cast member at the podium outside Soarin sent me to one last place to check before any panic set in. As I walked around the corner, low and behold there was my ds making friends with the cast members at the midway games. When he was evacuated from the coaster he was told where dh and grandma would come off the coaster. I was so proud of him for making the most of his 45 minutes of being parent-less in the park and could not have been more thankful for the extraordinary cast members that kept an eye on him while he waited. Also Kudos to the family that had girls on the coaster with ds that came back to make sure he was reunited with family.
So after about 80 minutes of being stuck in the air dh and grandma were rescued but very cold from the wind. Thankfully neither are afraid of heights. Both kids were given some play time on the midway games and came away with a couple souvenirs courtesy of Disney for being so patient and calm in a stressful situation. Dh and grandma spent the remainder of the day with their feet firmly on the ground.
(Time changed since I can't add this morning)
