Stuck avi - can't delete it

This is a weird one. One of my avi's has appeared on my c:drive. (Doc and Settings/MyName/My Documents/My Music)

I do all my work on the d:drive so I am not sure what it is doing here on the c:drive. The file is 2 gigs in size so I would like to reclaim that space.

When I try to delete/move the file I get an error (file in use) and won't let me get rid of it. If I play it, the file plays for about a minute or so and then crashes (corruption)

I tried safe mode but still the same problem - any ideas?

a program running on your computer in the background is still using it... shut down all of your programs, clear your cache, do a reboot and try deleting it then

If it was obtained thru a file sharing program, its probobly still download/uploading...close all P2P programs (peer to peer)..and you should be able to anhilate said file with no headaches

MKT: I can see no programs running in the background (ctrl-alt-del.) Wouldn't re-starting in safe mode block all background processes from starting? The computer has been through several restarts.

NowInc: No peer-2-peer. This was one of my files. I use a Sony and the capture card/process is called GigaPocket. I transferred the file from my video camera to Giga and then used Giga Explorer to convert to avi. (This is how all my vid captures are handled, nothing new here.) (side note - no peer 2 peer at all; don't use them.)

For some reason tonight I get a disk space warning on my c:drive. I begin to explore what is up and file this duplicate of my avi file on the c:drive. (the one on the d:drive is still there.)

Fixed now. I took the original and copied it onto the pain file. It worked but still couldn't delete. Then on the off chance I tried transferring the now working file to the desktop (i tried moving it several times before to other folders and to the desktop.) And it worked! From there I was able to transfer to trash and delete.

Very strange behavior.

Thanks for the help.
