Strange thing just happened...what about you?

I just called to make a payment on my trip in March/April and the strangest thing happened. She asked me a few question about my name, address, phone number, etc....then she said "I have to ask you another question (actualy not a question); don't take offense, but you are on our deceased list." !!!

Obvisously I'm not since I was calling them. I was then magically brought back to life after 3-4 minutes once they remembered I was calling to give them money. I guess someone with the same name had passed away and somehow got applied to me. They still had my resi information though . I asked my DW if she had called I told them that I was dead, and, luckily, she said no. Strangely enough I have had another experience in my life were people thought I was deceased. This is not good.

I didn't know that WDW had a deceased list? Does anyone else have a similar or weird event like this at WDW?

Glad to be alive and going back to the World in March/April, hopefully. :sohappy:

Yeah, thanks.

Good luck against Clemson. We took care of them last year. Make it two in a row. Go Cats!

My question would be not just about keeping a deceased list - but who has the job of maintaining such a list?

Oh and I hope Clemson wins by at least 8 touchdowns.

Well stuff like this happens all the time I mean there are so many people in our world that someone is bound to have the same complete name as you. I mean my grandmother, who is no longer with us, and I have the same name and so whenever I go to the doctors office they tell me I'm dead! I have to show them my ss card and my drivers lic. etc to prove to them I'm not dead after a while your like look you've done this everytime and everytime you clearly see that I'm not dead! So thing of it this way you can now tell your friends you had a near death experience, and it'll be a funny story! :ROFLOL:

And why would they maintain such a list?
So they stop sending you information?

How do they get the information as to who is deceased and who is not? They don't keep our SS# on file, right? So then how would they know for sure if that Mr. Smith as died, or if it is another Mr. Smith?

I would assume this is just such the case.

Rather than delete the entire record from the Database, they just flag it as deceased.

They most likely get the info when someone calls to report it. If they send out any sort of personalized information, which they do loads of (just got my DVC Christmast Card the other day for example) somtimes people get upset. Someone dies, people begin to get over it, and then *BAM* a reminder of happy days at Disney comes in the mail. Many people will call and say "just to let you know, so and so has passed away, please stop sending them mail"

It's much simpler for a operator to flag the account as deceased rather then delete it. Especially if in the case of the OP, the account needs to be "brought back to life"
