The Wise Little Hen

One day as the Wise Little Hen was scratching on the backlot, she found a grain of wheat.

"This wheat should be planted," she said. "Who will help me plant this wheat?"

"Not I," said the Strategic Planner, "Our studies show it will not grow."

"Not I," said the CFO, "It is a bear market for wheat."

"Not I," said the Board Member, "Planting is the job of management."

"Then I will do it myself," said the Wise Little Hen. And she did.

Soon the wheat grew to be tall and yellow.

"The wheat is ripe," said the Wise Little Hen, "Who will help me cut this wheat?"

"Not I," said the Strategic Planner, "It is not relevant, nor compelling."

"Not I," said the CFO, "The effort will increase operating expenses."

"Not I," said the Board Member, "The others have advised against it."

"Then I will do it myself," said the Wise Little Hen. And she did.

When the wheat was cut, the Wise Little Hen said, "Who will help me thresh this wheat?"

"Not I," said the Strategic Planner, "Threshing does not appeal to our target market."

"Not I," said the CFO, "The equipment will be a capital expense."

"Not I," said the Board Member, "But we intend to form a committee to examine the issue."

"Then I will do it myself," said the Wise Little Hen. And she did.

When the wheat was threshed, the Wise Little Hen said, "Who will help me grind the wheat into flour?"

"Not I," said the Strategic Planner, "Statistics show it will not sell."

"Not I," said the CFO, "We should outsource this kind of labor.

"Not I," said the Board Member, "But we must take it up at the next meeting, as I have a plane to catch."

"Then I will do it myself," said the Wise Little Hen. And she did.

She took the wheat to the mill and had it ground into flour. Then she said, "Who will help me bake my bread?"

"Not I," said the Strategic Planner, "Our surveys show people no longer care for bread."

"Not I," said the CFO, "Bread is a low-profit item."

"Not I," said the Board Member, "I am on a low-carb diet, of course."

"Then I will do it myself," said the Wise Little Hen. And she did.

She made and baked the bread. It smelled so good that all of the animals on the lot followed the scent and bought all but the last loaf.

Then the Wise Little Hen said, "Who will help me eat this bread?"

"Oh! I will," said the Strategic Planner, "Our projections anticipated this success."

"And I will," said the CFO, "This has been a remarkable period of growth for our bread brand."

"And I will," said the Board Member, "And I must have some extra butter on the side."

"Sorry!" said the Wise Little Hen. "Since no one helped me bake my bread, I will eat it myself." And she did.

Then she quickly replaced them all with far more helpful friends...
