Many details on the new Stich's Great Escape show can be found in the Winter issue of the Disnry Magazine. I have copied the details for you:

** SPOILERS BELOW **

Stich's Great Escape "is actually a prequel to Lilo & Stich", says Imagineering executive show director Rick Rothschild. "This happens before Hawaii and Lilo ever enter the story"

Stich (who is still referred to as Experiment 626) is being moved to the Prisoner Processing Center at Glactic Federation Headquarters. Guests are enlisted as recruits to watch over him while he awaits his sentencing.

Things go awry as Stich breaks out of his restraints and wreaks havoc on the center (and assembled guests). Using Proimity Audio technology, the same system used in The ExtraTerrorestrial Alien Encounter, Imagineers are able to make guests believe that Stich is next to them, shispering in their ears, even mussing their hair. The alien, who also appears as a 41-inch tall Audio-Amatronics figure, will do his share of spitting and drooling.

Stich's Great Escape features charcters from Lilo & Stich, including Captain Gantu, Agent Pleakley, and the Grand Councilwomen, all voiced by the movie's orginal voice actors.

(There is a picture in the article showing Stich in the center of the room with the laser beams around him. Exactly like Alien Encounter. It also shows robotic arms fitted with bright lights...I have no idea what this is for!)

Suggestion

There are two theaters at Alien Encounter/Stich's Great Escape. Why don't they keep one side with Alien Encounter (and make it scarier for the teens and adults) and the other side Stich's Great Escape (for the kids and familes)?

What do you think?

In a perfect world that would definately happen. But that is definately not the case. It MIGHT be something they look into in about 5 years or so when the Stitch show's crowds level off. But the chances of AE coming back are so small you couldn't even see it in a microscope.

And another thing is that Disney cares nothing about the teen and young adult market when it comes to the Magic Kingdom. That isn't a knock on Disney it is just the truth. They are starting to treat the MK as more of a "kiddie" park instead of a "family" park which I think is incorrect. There should be many things that appeal to every age group in each park. But that's just my opinion. It seems they are putting more thrill rides in Epcot and MGM and taking the thrill out of the MK

In principle, I think you have a good idea. It would be great to have two shows, one for kids and the other for "more mature audiences". However, there are a couple of potential problems. For starters, I personally never though AE was that great of a show to begin with. So if they were to keep it, I'd still like to see major improvements made to it. Secondly, I could envision a lot of families with small children mistakenly going into the wrong theater and then complaining that it was too scary. Considering the fact that it happened so much with AE, I think having two different shows in the same building would add to that confusion.

If there were one section each for Stitch and AE, i think it would cause long lines because only one show room for each show could be used, and cause lower capacity. so let's say AE would have a 5 min wait, while Stitch (right after opening) would be an hour +.

It is an interesting idea, though.

I've heard an interesting rumor...

apparently, there are plans to have one theatre empty into Mickey's Star Traders and one theatre empty into Merchant of Venus.

if this is true (I frankly have no idea how they'll do it...), that'll create a logistical nightmare for people who decided to sit outside... imagine it.

"Where will my husband and child come out?"

"Well... they could appear... well... I can't really say..."

of course, this is just work gossip so take it with an enourmous grain of salt.

Although this sounds like a complete re-make of Alien Encounter (just replace the alien with Stitch), the one thing I am looking forward to is seeing how they update the pre-show (maybe with new AAs?), and teh new Stitch AA, which has been sounding to be a lot more hi-tech than the previous "alien" was.

Actually, wouldn't the pre-show area also be a problem with having 2 shows. IIRC, isn't there only one preshow area? I don't think it would work having only one preshow for to completely different shows.

I'm looking forward to Stitch...let's see what happens...

I like the name of the place: Prisoner Processing Center at the Galactic Federation Headquarters.

I still like the Interplanetary Convention Center name, but the Galactic Federation Headquarters sounds like a good replacement. :)

Well, in the nicest possible way, DUH!!!

This was always going to be the case. Remember this is a refurbishment into Stitch Encounter, not a brand new ride.
