After seeing Frozen (which is awesome), I was wondering what Disney could do to really get publicity for Saving Mr. Banks. As much as I'd like to see it, some friends and family aren't as interested in it as they were for Frozen. Well, there was a time when theaters would run 'double features'. Why not do a 'double feature' with Saving Mr. Banks?!?! They could run Saving Mr. Banks first and then Mary Poppins. I'd love to see Mary Poppins on the big screen again; it's been many years. Thoughts?

The thing about Saving Mr. Banks is that it's just not targeted at every demographic. If someone under 30 is interested in seeing it, they will likely be in the minority.

It's going to be a very nostalgic film, and will have little meaning to anyone not seriously interested in Walt Disney's and/or Mary Poppins' history.

I'm 33, and I don't saturate my life with media, but Disney has done a fine job of making me aware of the movie. I believe they're targeting their audience just fine.

A double feature would be cool, and theaters have done that in recent history with something (maybe one of those vampire movies, or potter), where they play a previous movie first, then the sequel. It makes for a long experience though, and not one that most movie-goers have the attention span or tolerance for.

The DW and I do plan to see this film. We are big fans of Mary Poppins and loved the movie. We had the luxory last year on my B-Day in December to go and see Mary Poppins on Broadway. That play was spectacular and got us in the mood to see it again when we had gotten home. I just loved Dick VanDyke in that movie. Mr. Banks I thought was performed very well and loved the way he or sometimes lack there of interacted with Mary Poppins. It's one of those feel good Movies with lot's of songs that I will never forget and will sing until I am to old and grey to speak. Long as there is just a Spoon full of Sugar to help the medicine go down will always warm one's heart, soul and mind.

I agree that under 30 is probably not their main demographic. I'm quite a bit over 30 and would love to see Mary Poppins on the big screen. I don't think MP is just for the under 30. The over 30 is probably a good target audience for the longer attention span too.

One Little Spark...
That would explain why I'm getting them all the time for this movie then. It's a waste though I was going from the first announcement.
Yeah. Targeted advertising is sortof silly in a way, when you think about it.

I get Disney ads EVERYWHERE...

And it makes me laugh. Google, you really don't know how I feel about Disney, do you. They do NOT need to advertise WDW to me! :P

They need a few more qualifiers....

IF this guy visits Disney sites, THEN serve him Disney ads
IF this guy spends all day on a Disney Forum and has 8800 posts, THEN serve him keyboard ads

Just saw (for free, no less) a double feature of Mary Poppins and Saving Mr. Banks last night at a D23/Music Box Theatre sponsored showing here in Chicago. I had never seen Mary Poppins on the big screen, and it was wonderful. Savings Mr. Banks is brilliant, and seeing Poppins immediately before is the way to do it.

Looking quite forward to it.
