Staying at the Boardwalk?

Hi, we're DVC members and are staying at the Boardwalk Villas. So excited, we leave for our trip in a few days! :sohappy: (Sorry don't mean to rub it in, just excited.)

Anybody stayed here that has any TIPS for us?

I heard that they have a continental breakfast now too (don't know how long they've had it) but assuming that it's probably expensive. Has anyone tried it? We would probably be better off getting some cereal, milk, granola bars, etc. and keeping it in our room vs. going down for a continental breakfast.

I've heard about Spoodles and the Bakery on the Boardwalk. We've eaten at the Brewery before. Any other places that we shouldn't miss? :brick:

Thanks in advance for all your replies!!! :sohappy:

While not exactly ON the Boardwalk, I adore Restaurant Marrakesh @ Epcot (not many people even think of eating Moroccan food, but I'm picky about what I eat and I *love* it). Also, Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club is marvelous and will definitely fill you up for not too much money...the chili has little Mickey noodles! Have fun!!!

We've stayed at the BWV several times and are staying there again in Jan 05. As far as other restaurants, they all have appeal on one level or another. ESPN is a great sports bar and grill with decent food. Flying Fish is one of my favorite upscale restaurants. Great food and great decor. Spoodles is also good for a nice family style restaurant with better than avg food. :slurp: :slurp:

Location can't be beat if you like MGM and/or Epcot. The walk from MGM is nice. We did it one day last year and it's about a 10-15 minute walk along the waterway...very pleasant..if it's not too hot.

Jellyrolls is a hoot. Tuesday night(?) is CM night and it tends to be very lively.

The pools are great. Luna Park area is great for adults and kids, but both quiet pools are also great. There's one on the BWV side and one on the BWI side. The pool on the BWI side is set in the inner courtyard. The courtyard is themed so well...check out the Garden Suites with the picket fences...Wow.

For a quieter time, the Bellvue Lounge is a nice quiet bar off the lobby. They have board games there. One night 8 out of the 13 of us played a few games. Fun...never played Scrabble after consuming a few brews before.

Have a great time....if you have more specific ??? let me know

My family and I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn last year. Really enjoyed it. Bakery serves bagels and other simple breakfast takeout fare. Enjoy at the tables out in front. Also on weekends, bagels, creamcheese-coffee are served in the bar/gameroom area ---forget which 2-3 days i.e. thurs-sat? fri-sunday? In the Inn. So you are all set. Enjoy

I would recommend two things.

First the breakfast flatbreads (pizzas) at the outdoor cafe part of Spoodles. Very very yummy.

Second, for a slightly more romantic and adult experience, grab a late night cocktail at the Belle Vue Room. You can go out on the 2nd floor balcony overlooking the boardwalk. It's rarely crowded and very peaceful.

The Boardwalk is one of my favorite places in the World, here's my 2 cents about the area.

Cape May: While usually good, my wife and I went on our honeymoon in January and the food was luke-warm, bland, and we both were sick all afternoon. Never tried the dinner buffet.

Spoodles: My family is split 50-50 here. Some of the food is great, but some is not so great. I would recommend their takeout window over their table service. Cheaper food, faster food, and IMO, better food. The only thing you miss is their nice winelist.

Flying Fish: Everyone raves about this place, but I found it to be very mediocre, and quite a ripoff for the price.

Big River: Always fun, especially for late night snacks and some of their delicious brews. A nice thing about them is that if you feel like a night in the villa you can get take out from them and enjoy it in the comfort of your home away from home.

ESPN: A really great sports bar, some of the best hotwings I've ever had.

Jellyrolls: In my opinion the second most fun nightclub at Disney (behind the Adventurers Club). Don't miss it.

Boardwalk Bakery: Don't leave without trying a cinamon yummy.

Yachstmen Steakhouse: My pick for best restaraunt at WDW. It's an upscale steakhouse so it can be pricey, but their cuts are delicious, they have an excelent wine list, the atmosphere is very relaxing, and the deserts are heavenly.

And here is some more general advice:

-don't ignore the other side of crescent lake, enjoy a stroll along the beach.
-for a nice quiet evening, find the bar adjacent to the boardwalk lobby on the boardwalk inn side of the hotel. very relaxing, with old-time radio playing classic shows and available board and card games.
-enjoy the rocking chairs off of the lobby overlooking crescent lake.
-don't miss the crepes on a stick, delicious!
-enjoy the free activities in the building by the villas/quiet pool. free movie rentals, video games, arcade games, air-hockey, and more!
-take advantage of your proximity to epcot and mgm. with the parks so close you can take a short break in the afternoon for a hop on the tower of terror or spend some downtime in world showcase.
-on a related note, enjoy being able to walk from illuminations to the boardwalk. such a relief compared to the madness of the monorails.
-finally, a word of warning. if you want to enjoy boating, go to a magic kingdom hotel. they have more water to explore, and much faster boats to zip around in.

Enjoy your stay at one of the most magical places in the world!

Spoodles is by far the BEST resturant on WDW property (well in my families opinion) Great theming, service and of course, food! A must try is the three dip appetizer, mmmmmm.

Rent a surrey bike & take a ride all around Cresent Lake, get your fortune told and do try Flying Fish for a special meal, it's considered one of the finest restaurants on the WDW property, on par with California Grill (CR), Jiko (AKL) and Citricos (GF). And, above all, soak up the atmosphere! Enjoy! :animwink:

The Boardwalk is awesome. Spoodles has really good pizza you can get from the take out window. At the Bakery try the peanut butter and chocolate cake, it's one of the best sweets I've had on property.

Also, there's only one set of elevators on the Villas side, so if you dont like walking long hallways then I'd request a room close to the elevators.

The Favorite thing we liked about the Boardwalk was being able to walk to Epcot Because that my dad's favorite park. We also like being able to walk to epcot because it's kind of a central hub to all of WDW.
