Can someone please give me some idea as to how much a limo service/taxi service would be for my family to get to USF from a Disney resort? Sorry if this question is already asked, I didnt see it anywhere on here. And realistically how many days do I need to plan for Universal? I have 3 teenage kids going, which will they most enjoy? Disney or Universal? We have already been at Disney in 2009, now we want to go back, and include Universal Studios. Please help with any ideas...thanks

I haven't taken a cab there since 2009, but back then it was about $40 each way including a tip.
I know you can call Mears for a shuttle service that was roughly $20 per person round trip plus a tip. Depending on how many people are going, a cab might be cheaper.

I'd plan a minimum of 1-2 days for Universal.

You'll want to plan 2 days at Universal Orlando, since it is two parks; Universal Studios and Universal's Islands of Adventure. I think that they will enjoy Universal more. The atmosphere is more upbeat and vibrant and both parks offer a fair share of more thrilling attractions, such as The Incredible Hulk Coaster at Islands of Adventure and Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios. However, both parks offer a fair share of attractions that can be enjoyed by everyone, such as Men in Black: Alien Attack at the Studios and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Islands of Adventure.

Honestly, Disney and Universal are very, very similar when it comes to overall quality. It really just depends on their own personal interests if they will like Disney or Universal "more".

Not necessarily more upbeat and vibrant.

One of the differences between the resorts is, Disney has "magic" but Universal has that feeling of adventure

Universal has its fair share of "magic" (see Port of Entry). It's just not advertised as such. But yes, I can see where you're coming from. I definitely get that feeling of "adventure" as I exit Port of Entry and see each of the islands around the lagoon and hear the Hulk roar.

I think you would be better off doing a split stay. Spend two nights at Universal then head over to WDW for the remainder of your trip.

We stayed at POFQ a few years ago and was going to rent a car for a few days, as we wanted to go to USO for 3 days and also SW for a day, but once we looked at the prices of the mears taxi/coach things it was a no brainer - bear in mind there was only 2 of us though, but it was definatly cost effective, also the pickup times at both ends was very convenient, also meant we could get a nice meal and both be able to drink on the way out of USO (Stop Forrest Stop!! :) ). (Also meant we did have to do those 4 days all in 1 block, we could spread them throughout our 2 week stay).

This may be worthwhile if you are going to spend 2 days at Universal because it would give you the Express pass and early entry to the WWOHP. If your kids like thrill rides (like my hubby and DS), they will love IoA. If not (like me and DD), there's still plenty to enjoy at Universal. That said, Disney will always be more special than Uni for our family.

As others have mentioned, I'd recommend Mears. They aren't too expensive, even with tip. And they are extremely reliable when it comes to times for pick-ups/drop-offs. I stayed at the Dolphin a month ago and since that technically isn't Disney, my mom and I did everything thru Mears (Was a 5 night 4 day vacation, and I gave two full days over to Universal) with no problems. I would definitely recommend two full days, one for each park as well. Each park has excellent rides, and especially considering the age of your children, I think they'd very much enjoy what each has to offer.
