Staying at Disney, but visiting Universal (no car)

I'm hopefully returning to Orlando next year from the UK but this time will be travelling with a different friend and rather than staying in a villa we'll probably be staying at one of the Disney resorts as neither of us drive and mainly making it a Disney holiday.

However I absolutely love Universal too and with the Hulk and Kong I would be kicking myself to not visit, so what would be the best way to tackle it?

I came up with a few ideas in my head

-Bus / coach transfers if they exist? Although would be a bit restrictive as I would have to stick to their schedule

-Uber? Can I use that with my UK registered Uber account and will there be extra fees due to dollars being charged to my bank account instead of pounds?

-Or would it be best to maybe say look out for a deal on accomodation at Universal so that I can stay there for maybe one weekend of the holiday? (Don't know if you can get such short stays or not)

Also what would be the best way to go about tickets, in the past I've bought the 14 Day one due to the fact we could visit whenever with the car but this time I would only be visiting for 2-5 days

Many thanks :)

My friend has never been too so hopefully I'll get them to come along!
