Staying at 2 Different Resort Hotels

We're in the early planning stages for a possible trip next summer. I'm considering dividing our stay between WL and AKL. Personally, I'd like to stay at the Poly, but my gang looks at me with the pitiful faces :( if I even suggest not staying at AKL. LOL.

We've never split our stay between 2 different resorts so I thought I'd ask you guys. When staying at two sep. resorts is a sep. deposit required for each? Also, when making the move to the second, can we just pack up that morning, leave our bags to be moved for us over to the next resort and then check in at the new place that night when we return from the parks?

I know it's going to be a hassle and I'd actually rather not move, but I guess it's the only way I can stay somewhere else and still keep the family happy.

Thanks for any info!

If you want to stay at two different hotels, you need to make two separate reservations and pay separate deposits on them.

If you're making room-only reservations, it's quite easy. Things get complicated, though, if you're booking a package, and even more complicated if you're getting the Dining Plan. If it's just tickets, you can purchase tickets uder the first reservation, and then after you check into hotel #2 they can be moved from your old room keys to your new ones.
If you're looking at the Dining Plan, reply back and I can go into those details....

When your transfer day arrives, you pack your bags and call Bell Services to pick up your bags. When they come, you tell them where you're going and they'll mark your bags for transfer. (The physical transfer takes a few hours). What most people do is go to a park in the morning, and then use the Disney transportation to go to their new hotel in the afternoon to check in.

Oh, and if you're using Magical Express, you'll want to make sure to associate your arrival flights under the first reservation and your departure flights under the second one.

The Poly is awesome! You should try get there if you can. How about doing AKL and the Poly? (Poly is so much better than WL! :lookaroun)

I would live to stay at the Poly one day, but the higher cost prevents me from doing so. Plus now I have DVC at WL and why should I leave there now.

Thanks guys! I'm really divided. I like all three and really could be happy at any one of them, but we've stayed at AKL several times in a row now and I'd like to stay somewhere different! I'm a little concerned about the cost at the Poly too. It is far more expensive than WL & AKL.

I have stayed at both Poly and WL. (twice each) I like them both for different reasons. Poly has bigger rooms, the monorail, and tropical theming. WL has exceptional theming, great CM's, dedicated boat service to MK, and a much lower price tag. If they were priced equally, I would stay at the Poly. Since they are not, WL gets my vote. :animwink:

Just my humble advice-

I've never seen the benefit of switching resorts in the middle of a trip.
Just pick the one you want and stay there.
For variety, you could use a different resort next time, on a new trip.

In our case, we go through the fun of considering several resorts for the upcoming trip and then settle on Port Orleans Riverside again anyway.

Tks.
