Hello All, I really am torn and need your opinions. Here is some background. Going to The World in early Jan. 2014. I usually stay @ AKL. This trip I am trying to watch expenses some and am presently booked @ POFQ. I really like the restaurants @ AKL and have made friends with the bartenders @ Victoria Falls, and plan to eat some of my meals @ AKL and hang out @ Victoria Falls. I was recommended to stay @ POFQ because its a compact resort and easy to get around. I have also heard the bus service is pretty good their (one bus stop) unless they are sharing with PORS. Some people advise me that since when I am going (early January) is a slower time they may share bus service at that time rather than run a dedicated POFQ bus. I heard that CSR is more centrally located to all of the parks and is a good bit closer to AKL, and that they have a pretty good table service option The Mayan. Also have more entertainment options @ CSR. Another thing if I switch from POFQ to CSR should I opt for a Preferred Room? Lastly I realize that this is a convention resort, and am concerned that if they have a large convention booked at the time I am going, that sometimes guest get "Bumped" to make room for the convention guests. Please I need your thoughts ASAP as if I am going to switch I'll want to do it soon. Thanks Again!!!!!!!!

CSR standard rooms are fine- I wouldn't pay extra for a preferred room unless you have trouble with walking around. Never ate at Maya Grill so I couldn't say anything about it. What do you mean by entertainment options? The Dig site pool is nice, but the arcade is very small. CSR is close to AK so it might be quicker if you want to hang out at AKL. CSR has their OWN buses too. Yes, I would make the switch but mostly because I love CSR!!!

CSR is closer to AKL, but that really isn't a big reason to switch hotels. I stayed at CSR many times and was never walked. You run the risk of being walked anywhere you go, but Disney seems to do less walking than most places! I don't know if they don't fill up or what the deal is, but I've never been walked. Almost, once! But never had it happen.

I don't know much about busses. If you plan to do a lot of hotel-to-hotel trips, consider renting a car. You're going to spend a lot of time on transportation if you don't.

I switched from our beloved POR to CSR in order to get Free dining for our upcoming trip in Nov. At first, I was nervous because it is a convention hotel. After reading all of the reviews and comments on this site, I am now looking forward to staying there. Everyone raves about how lovely it is and how great the bus service is. I booked a standard room as well. One tip that I am going to act on is to request a Cabana room because they are a little closer to a pool (hope I got that right). The Ranchos are supposed to be nice as well. Apparently, the convention groups typically get placed in the Casita section. People have also told me that you really don't realize that convention groups are there with you. In fact the resort as a whole tends to be very quiet because it is so large. If you switch, I hope that we are both happy with our decisions in the end.

Maya Grill is absolutely dismal. I recommend CSR only if you don't plan to eat there. POFQ is terrific.

I would completely disagree with this. My family and I loved the Maya Grill. We stated at CSR two years ago and ate at the grill at least once every day that we weren't in the parks, at least three times the entire week.

I will say this, just like every other opinion concerning a restaurant it all comes down to the individuals taste. While I respect the fact that there are probably plenty of people who don't care for the Maya Grill I bet that there are plenty of others who do (my family and I are an example). Just my two cents.

My visit was earlier than yours -- they must have improved the menu and the execution since then. We were a party of 6, none of us are picky eaters, and we all ordered different things. Every single one of us found our food to be bland, dry, overcooked and, in the case of my mother's "rare" beef, actually burned. The portions were skimpy, too. Besides Hollywood & Vine, it's the only Disney restaurant where I've been so disappointed with the quality of the food.
