Hey everyeone! I was just surfing my normal sites.. and when I stopped by theforce.net I saw something really interesting.. it follows:

SW Weekends at Disney May 16 - June 15
Tue, Feb 11, 03 10:04:32 AM EST

MGMStudios.org reportedly has the dates for the Star Wars Weekends at Disney this year! Thanks to Darthshader for finding it:
Star Wars Weekend Dates Announced
The annual Star Wars Weekend dates have been announced for 2003. This annual ritual celebrates the splendor and fun of the Star Wars films and lets fans get up close and personal with their favorite Star Wars celebrities and indulge into their dreams. Star Wars Weekend 2003 is scheduled for five consecutive weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) beginning May 16 and running through June 15 at Disney-MGM Studios.

Sounds pretty promising.. Ill be there for the first day of the celebration. I was kinda hoping it would be like previous years where it was only in May, that way I could have a whole weekend.. but.. unfortunately.. thats not how its looking.

Wow... I will too, however I've never been this time of year, and did not realize it was Star Wars Weekend. What all can I expect, will crowds be a lot higher? Should I try to do certain things that are assosiated with this event? Should I steer clear of the Ewoks and watch for Storm Troopers?

That's pretty much it.. but you forgot to say to get the autographs of the celebritys and to have fun!!

SpiderMan, crowds are a little higher at the Studios on the weekends.. but.. I dont think it really affects the other parks all that much.. I cant tell you how excited I am right now! I hope I get to meet Carrie Fisher. I've already met Doug Chiang (Art Director for Episode 1 and 2), Kenny Baker (R2), Peter Mayhew (Chewie), and some other guy who isnt important.

Is this verified? I've been trying to find out but there doesn't seem to be any Official news on this.

One of my staffers posted the exact same story yesterday, but I insisted we then update it to say that their is no official update yet.

*hops up and down* oh i hope this is true!!! i was there for SWW in 2000, and it was SUCH a blast! truely an experience i'll never forget!
spider-man, don't miss out on this at all! don't even try to avoid it! the crowd will be a little more hectic, but pretty much only in the Star Tours area...but as long as you just go with the flow and keep your cool, you'll be fine!
and if they have the evening Cantina Party, don't miss out on that! the crowds are hell to plow through, but it's a lot of fun!!
just go and enjoy yourself!! :D
i'm just so excited...the friend i'm taking with me in June is as big a Star Wars fan as i, so she'll love it for sure! *keepin my fingers crossed that it'll come true!*

Yay! :sohappy:

The official WDW site lists no special events past Feb. (or at least it didn't a week ago), their e-mail response said the dates weren't set yet and next time check the special events search  :brick: , and the WDTC gave me those dates, but said it was "select weekends" during that time period and couldn't tell me which ones. Honestly I tend to believe this site I've never been to more than any of the official info!

I should be there for the first or second weekend! I was there in May 2001 and that was one of my best Disney experiences. I'll never forget seeing Chewbacca shaking his fur to the Peter Gunn theme at the Cantina block party! And the little skits going on near Tattooine Traders were really cool, too.

I can't wait....May's so far away! :(

So there you go. I have already changed my reservations and let me tell you - if you are a Star Wars fan you don't want to miss this. I was there in 2000 and 2001 and they are MUCH fun.

I cant wait to find out whose going to be there and when... :D I remember in 2000 they had a ride-a-thon thing going on for whoever rode Star Tours the most in one day, they wouldnt let me do it then since I didnt have a parent with me (you had to be 16, and if you werent 16 you had to have a parent). In 2001, I was really looking forward to the ride-a-thon but they didnt have it. Last year, they didnt have Star Wars weekends.. I hope they have the ride-a-thon.. I know I could get high up in the rankings :)

I was at the 2001 one on my honeymoon, though I had previously met some of the Star Wars celebs a few years before in Cincinnati. I followed Peter Mayhew as he was walking through MGM to get to the Star Tours area. No one around knew who he was until he sat down to sign autographs. I knew it was him as soon as I first saw him walking around as I had met him before... really tall dude. I have a pic of he and I standing together a few years ago:

He was slouching and I am 6'2".

I also followed Carrie Fisher halfway through the park as she made her way out the employee exit by the Star Tours attraction. Again, no one seemed to notice it was her.

Good times following Star Wars celebs around MGM. :D

i REALLY wanted to do the ride-a-thon in 2000...i think i was 16 at the time, so i could've done it...but i really didn't want to waste a whole day on just one ride, so i decided against it...besides, there was other Star Wars related fun to be had! :D i wonder what the record amount of times is?

A little more verification for those that may still be wondering. The Mickey Monitor is a newsletter put out quarterly for annual passholders. My copy came today and I have scanned the last page for all to see!

As another add to the thread... a Star Wars Weekends Fansite is reporting two of the other guests who will be appearing during Star Wars Weekends. They are not giving out any specifc dates for them and.. we have to remember.. this is a "fan-site", probably not official.. But they are saying that Leanna Walsman (Bounty Hunter Aurra Sing) and Temuera Morrison (Bounty Hunter Janjo Fett) will also be appearing. As of right now, the only offical one is Anothony Daniels (who will be there for the first weekend (May 16-18)).

Ill let you know if I find out anything else
