So i remember talking about it but i can't recall what the decesion finally was and would much rather start a new thread to talk to people than look it up. Is Disney still doing the Star Wars weekends? I heard maybe just doing 1 so if that's true when is it? I'll be down there in late May and want to know if I'll catch it or not. :p

They are only having one actual weekend. It's the weekend of the release of the movie.

They may have more characters out during the rest of the month though.

Sorry, but I am afraid that's incorrect

They aren't having them, but on the weekend of the release of AOTC they will have more SW characters out and in the car parade, there are some collectable pins and that's about it.

I personally am not happy with this decison. We planned our May trip to WDW in hopes that we would be able to enjoy the SW weekends. I have been a HUGE fan ever since the release of Star Wars (now A New Hope). Hopefully they will bring back the weekends in the future.

This is from AllEarsNet - Deb's Unofficial Walt Disney World Information Guide - WDWIG. Her information is usually very accurate.

3/20/02 -- As announced in the 2/22/02 Orlando Sentinel, Star Wars Weekends, normally held at the Disney-MGM Studios in May, will NOT take place this year, even though the new installment of the movie series will debut May 16. A Star Wars event called Celebration II will instead be held in Indianapolis on the first weekend in May.
However, the Disney-MGM Studios will celebrate the nationwide release of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones during the film's opening weekend, May 17-19, with additional Star Wars characters in the theme park, limited-edition pins, and additional Star Wars characters in the Stars and Motor Cars parade. In addition, Star Wars movie fans will have the chance to mingle with more than 20 camera-friendly Star Wars characters who will be circulating in the theme park.
Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World may resume in 2003, according to a Lucasfilms Ltd. spokesperson.
