Star Wars Movies in 3D!

According to the LA Times, all 6 Star Wars movies are to be released in 3D starting with Phantom Menace in 2012 and going in chronological order with one being released each year thereafter:

Maybe.... MAYBE if Han shoots first again this will be worth it.

I'm getting pretty sick of 3D in general though, if the characters and story are compelling enough, and the action is well crafted, you don't need a gimmick. 3D is just a crutch and an excuse to suck another $2 bucks out of consumers' wallets on top of the already outrageous ticket prices.

Not to mention that despite what they claim, 3D glasses are a pain in the butt for those of who wear real glasses. It's okay for a 10 minute theme park attraction, but I was seriously annoyed with them by the end of Avatar.

Agreed - however - I'm just excited to take my kids to see Star Wars in the theater - they are 4 and 6 and completely missed the boat when the prequels were released (and 4 thru 6 were re-released). They now have all 6 memorized (one of the things I'm most proud of in my parenting :lookaroun) and it will be awesome to see it on the big screen with them. They always laugh at me when I say I saw A New Hope in the theater way (waaaaaayyyyy) back when.
