Star Wars in WDW

I am going to be at WDW from aug 5th - aug 17th and am hoping some Star Wars characters will still be around. My to sons (5 and 3) are very excited to meet Chewebacca and Darth Vadar and I am wondering if anyone knows if I can expect to find them. I know Star Wars is very big there right now but the offical Star Wars weekends end befor I arrive. I am assuming that some characters will still be showimg up around Star Tours though. Am I right? Is it common to see Chewwy' in this area? I have been to WDW alot and am pretty knowledable about the parks and movies but this is an area that has never been a great concern to me, it's funny how important things become to you when they become important to your children. Also, do any of them still appear in the Stars and Motorcars parade? Also is true that the Power Rangers now appear at MGM?

I've never been to a Star Wars weekend and I'm afraid that outside of Stars and Cars motorcade I've never seen any Star Wars characters in the parks.

Power Rangers are now in the park, but I do not know what they do.

I believe they are still in the parks but they are no were near as prevalent as they are during a SWW. Just ask one of the cast members in area around Star Tours and they can usually give you times that they will be around.

My one Starwars weekend experience was great. I didn't really know it was going on untill I went to Star-Tours, and outside of the ride, was Chewbacca and some Jedi from 1,2 and 3 were dancing to some CM's singing the "YMCA song", but changed the words to.....
"I bet you're here to see Y...o...d....a, I bet you're here to see Y....o....d...a...." (etc...)

Twas a hoot.

So...you may just get lucky and see them near by doing their "thing" =)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

As has been suggested - I honestly believe that the nearest you'll get to the Star Wars characters is during the parade

we hit mgm twice during our trip. the first day was the saturday of the first star wars weekend and the 2nd was sometime the following week. tues or wed i believe. granted, it WAS during the time they do the weekends, it wasn't an actual SWW. As we were buckling into Star Tours and the doors were starting to close, we looked over and Vader was walking past. LOL That was priceless! Doubt that helped, but it might?

Unfortunately, the characters will not be present for your trip (except for the minor chance of an appearance of face characters like Luke and Leia in the Motorcars parade). This is due to the fact that the character likenesses and costumes are licensed by Lucasfilm only for use during the Star Wars Weekends. This is specifically why you don't see characters the rest of the year. Trust me, as the biggest Star Wars freak next to George Lucas himself, I'd love to get my pic with Vader or Boba every time I go, but it's just not going to happen. You're kids will still of course still get to see the animatronic C-3PO and R2-D2 in the queue which is at least a little nostalgia and the Tattooine Traders shop seems to keep many kids quite entertained. Have fun!

Vader and RD2D were in the parade when I saw it, nowhere near Star Wars Weekends.

Like I said, they may be in the parade, but they will never be at the pavilion area. I will admit I am suprised it's more than a face character in the parade, though.
