I would assume that after Mando settles the leadership issue, the spin-off will then focus on post-Mando Mandalore.

I'd venture a guess to say that Mando season 3 will end up in a place where Mando and Bo separate ways and we get a short Fett-like series for Bo. Meanwhile, I can see Mando season 4 (if there is one) focusing on Mando and Grogu's reunion. I can see Grogu eventually becoming the Jedi protector of Mandalore (gives a concise reason for his absence in the sequel trilogy).

If they were ever to get a story going featuring Rey, Finn, and Grogu, it would do GANGBUSTERS! Just as fans eventually wanted to see Hayden come back as Anakin (and Spidey fans wanting Garfield back as Spidey), I can see a growing desire to see Rey and Finn back at some point and throwing Grogu in there would be extra-yummy icing on the cake.

This makes sense with the rumors that all the shows in this timeline (Mando, Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Rangers of New Republic) were leading to one huge crossover series. With the cancellation of Rangers, they probably needed something to get all the important story points from that show into canon.

And perhaps a character or two introduced during Obi-Wan? Can't be any more than 20 years after the Obi-Wan series takes place.

It's fine. I didn't love the character in Mando or the animated version. But I'm sure I'll watch as I like what they're doing with the Mandoverse so far.
