Star Wars 7 story treatment

I just read this article confirming that George Lucas wrote story treatments for 12 episodes, later changing it to 9 episodes in 1977. There seems to be confusion whether the new movies are based on these stories, based on the Timothy Zahn trilogy, or completely new stories.

First let's clear up what the Zahn trilogy is. It is my belief that the Zahn trilogy is original, but Zahn had access to George's story treatments to prevent any contradictions, and that some characters in Zahn's trilogy originated from Lucas' treatments.

Help me clear this up! Thanks!

I don't think anyone outside of Disney/Lucasfilm knows for sure at this point. As much as I loved the Zahn trilogy I doubt they are directly adapting that story. I would imagine that the Arndt was given anything that Lucas had written as a starting point and then developed the screenplay from there.

Here's an interesting find. Watch the video. The video is even more interesting than the article.

I don't know if this is news worthy or not but they announced Episode VII will be filmed in the UK.
I believe each of the original 6 have been at least partially filmed there.

Saw Star Trek Into Darkness last night. I am more convinced now than ever that JJ Abrams will do a great job directing Star Wars!

I was never a Star Trek fan but, JJ Abrams made the 1st 'new' Star Trek one of my favorite movies. I've been a Star Wars fanatic since I saw Empire Strikes Back in the theater as a kid. I can't wait to see what Abrams does with Star Wars!
