Star Wars 1313 delay?

So rumors are starting to circulate that star wars 1313 has been put on hold/delayed/not going to happen. I saw the E3 2012 footage when they showed it and I thought it looked awesome. What a cool concept, delving into the underworld of star wars, getting a bit darker. So if this does get delayed or cancelled it would be a real shame. This was my fear about Disney interactive and Lucas arts coming together. Neither company liked to step out on a ledge and do something different. Just play it safe or focus on casual games. I know nothing is official but we haven't seen any real progress on the game, and for the most part where there is smoke, there is fire.

Honestly, I wish they would just leave the series alone. Given how Epic Mickey 2 turned out, no one can blame Disney for putting the video game on hold. I'd rather them put in more Star Wars stuff in the parks, maybe some merchandise, and leave it at that. I'm not wild about the new movie either, though I'll probably see it anyway, especially since Abrams is directing.

I can blame them. If Disney or Lucas arts can't make a good game, then let someone who can make a great game do it. A great example is knights of the old republic. It is the highest rated star wars game of all time, won all sorts of game of the year awards and it was made by Bioware one of the best developers in the industry. Why was it so good? In my opinion, its because they went completely unconventional. Its an action hybrid role playing game that is NOT set in the movie time frame that was allowed to be written by someone outside of Lucas. The star wars universe is so huge and varied I just don't think they should stop because they can't seem to get it right. They need to do the same thing they are doing for EP7 (so it seems) let people who know what they are doing handle it. Not just give up and settle for the quick cash in like star wars angry birds.

Also, the game was supposed to be rated M. Disney wouldn't let an M rated game come out for their property.

Angry Birds Star Wars is great, and it came before Disney bought Star Wars. And I got it for free on my Android. Matt7187 brought up a good point: they don't want to make it rated M. I had to do a current event article for economics recently, and it was on Disney, and one of the things it said was that the video game base is least profitable for Disney. It makes sense that they would focus their efforts elsewhere. Like in the theme parks. If they can figure out where to put it, I would love some more Star Wars stuff.

Yes I know it came before and I know its not bad but it shows how similar the 2 companies are. (That's why I said I feared the 2 companies coming together.) Lucas said oh angry birds is popular, we could make a few bucks off this! The problem is angry birds SW diminishes the overall brand even though it might not be a bad game, everyone knows its a money grab. Disney loves to do the same thing, go after the quick buck. And that brings me to your point of its the least profitable division. That's what happens when you release sub par game after sub par game year after year. You have to prove yourself by innovating and making quality games, then the profits will come. So what if star wars 1313 was darker. Here is a thought, maybe tone it down a bit, make it T for teen but still keep its dark undertone. I doubt the plan was for blood and guts and fowl language anyway. But here we go again, something doesn't fit into their cookie cutter mold of generic so lets cut it. It's just a real shame.
