Before I start, I would like to aknowledge some limitations.
1. This is designed for all versions of Star Tours and partly to Body Wars. This means, that the ride system has to be designed to fit in to the area used at Disneyland.
2. Due to increased motion and the need for the 3D to take effect, the pods will be smaller.
For all the Star Tours, the lines will be updated to something more serious and Star Wars like instead of some cute and cudly 80's esqe adventure. A lot of the details will be updated and a much more serious look will be used. Most of the line, however will remain the same.
When arriving to the loading area, there will be one less row for each pod as well as a couple less people for each row. There are two reasons for this.
1. So the ride's lines will remain longer over time.
2. So the pod's effects will be better.
I believe the WDW has 6 pods. I know Disneyland has 4 and I don't know about the others. Disneyland's might have to have a different type of reconfiguration or just not change the pods but just the film.
The room for the pods will remain mostly black. The pods themselves will be smaller for two reasons.
1. Increased mobility.
2. Better working 3D.
All the hyralics and such will be redone. The pod now will make great changes as it itself will go inches from the ceiling, walls and floor, the floor will possibly have to be lowered to make room for safety reasons. The idea is that instead of moving jerkingly a couple inches only, that you will be moving maybe 10 feet at the greatest. Also, a lot of new technology will be used and the pods themselves will have shocks to remove the sickening feeling and have a much smoother experience.
Inside, guests will still be facing a metal curtain and two new plasma screens will be lacated next to the center area. When the metal screen lifts up, there will be a large TFT 3D screen instead of the old projector screen and there will be a layer of glass between the guests and the screen.
The ride begins with the guests being greeted by the pilot. The pilot though will be more experienced and could be human or robot (I would like to see a human drive it. It would be much cooler than Rex). The ride begins with a much smoother version of leaving the docks but there is a small accident not caused by the pilot. The vehicle swerves to aviod and a scan is done showing no damage. The vehicle then enters hyperspace and the whole trip is cool until the engine dies leaving the vehicle alone in space. Emmediatly the pilot calls for a rescue by the New Republic so that it can return safely. But in the distance, a large black object is seen and it appears to be stars.
Slowly, the ship comes into view and a warning message is sent. The pilot calls for more help and yells that he is alone against the Eclipse Star Destroyer and that the clone of Emperor Palpatine is on that very ship.
The pilot decides to make a speed run to avoid any fire around the ship only to be pulled into the tractor beam.
All hope seems to be lost until a couple New Republic ships fly in and save the vehicle. The pod is protected by the ships as they all try to escape from the vehicle and the whole thing becomes a battle. In the end, the Eclipse destroyer is damaged but the group manages to get away and return to safety.
Why I chose this:
-Because many people do not know of what happens after Jedi. I barely know. I only read a couple of chapters of the bounty hunter book.
*spoilers*

Who here knows that Boba Fett survives the Sarloc pit in Jedi?

*end spoilers*
I know of Palpatine's clone and the Eclipse destroyer from the vehicle book. I don't know what exactly happens so someone correct me if I make a plot hole. But at least it isn't as bad a plot hole as the current ride and it is much more original than using the pod-racing scene. But I think it would be cool to expand the story like this expecially since Lucas wont make episode 7, 8 and 9. (the third trilogy as well as many other trilogys were published and almost all of them are not written by Lucas. This makes me wonder if he would write a separate story or use the books if he were to make any more Star Wars).
