Are the standard rooms here as bad as the guide books say?

I have heard different descriptions from different people and am wondering if any of you can give me some guidance... We are hardly in our room as we LOVE the parks and resort overall so much that we sleep and shower in our room without much time outside the parks...but for pool time. Should we try to upgrade to a water view or stick with the standard? It is our first time in a deluxe resort and I am SO excited!!!:sohappy:

To help put your mind at ease, the only difference between a Standard View Room and a Water View Room at Disney's Yacht Club Resort is what you see from your balcony. The room size and all other room amenities are identical.

Thanks JP.

Since it is not that big of a deal what we see outside if we are hardly in our rooms, i think we will be fine. For those of you who have experienced the water view, what did you think? Were they all direct views or like side views and such?:xmas:

If you're hardly ever in the room then a standard vs a water view room won't much matter. A real difference when upgrading in the deluxe resorts, however, would be moving to club level... you'll probably see more of a difference with this type of change.
