Standard rooms at Contemporary

Hiydee ho! It's off to Disney we go!

Staying at the Contemporary july 25-30 in a standard room.
3 dudes getting away from it all! (It's the only place my buddy's wife would let him go without her! Ha!)

Obviously we don't need a romantic water view or anything, but I don't want to be on a parking lot either. I'd like to call a day or 2 befor we arrive and put in a request, but don't know what room numbers in the wings to ask for. Being close to the monorail/pool would probably be best (then again I'd take a water view if I could get it!)

Any tips?

T'anks!

Hey there fellow Manhattanite...You should check out www.wdwig.com There are often various comments in people's trip reports about their room numbers and their various views. Also check this link out, i believe there is a map of the resort:

I believe that Wdwig.com recommends faxing your request about 5 days prior to arrival and they have the fax number on their site.

Also in the Contemp wings you really cant be close to the Monorail and the pool. The Monorail station is in the Main Tower, while the pool is close to the wings. Ask for a water view room, they are nice and quiet at night and the sunsets/rises are awesome, plus you have a great view of the Electrical Water Pagent!

You will have to walk from the wings outside to get to the monorail station/resturants, but we didnt mind when we stayed in the wings its enjoyable and let us get some fresh morning air before heading out to the parks :)

Actually water view rooms are more expensive than standard rooms. Typical standard rooms are located in either the North or South wing and have parking lot views. You may luck out and get upgraded to a waterview room for free, but don't go expecting it. I had a standard room in the North wing and had a great view of the Monorail, Space Mountain, the castle in the distance.

Stayed in the North Garden Wing our first trip in '92. Had a little one so we were put farther away.(there was a Disneyana convention going on). We had a water view. There was a beautiful hammock a few feet away and a sandy beach. Were thinking about staying at the Contemp again, but ended up back at the WL which is our fav.
