Found this article on MSNBC today (I didn't see anyone post it in a search).
Disney is thinking about constructing stand-alone hotels and areas resembling Downtown Disney away from the resort locations. They also are considering building "smaller parks". Not so sure about the smaller park idea, but the other two sound promising.
