Spring Break Help

I haven't been back to the World since Fall 2011 and am dying for a trip back! I have been browsing the forums and reading about FP+ experiences. I am planning an impromptu trip back to WDW in April, but is this a bad time to visit? Will it be busy with families on Spring Break? I am looking at the first weekend of April. I am nervous how the new FP+ changes will affect a semi-busy time. Thanks!

Considering the extreme winter that has been plummeting many parts of the U.S. these past few months...I'd say Florida is going to look like the California Gold Rush come this April.

If any way possible, can you re-schedule your impromptu trip to the first or second week in March? (Or better yet, the first part of May). You will thank yourself.

Seriously...we're not exaggerating OP....if you can manage to reschedule for even a couple months out, you will definitely thank yourself!

I concur. My wife planned a trip one time with her sister during Spring Break and asked me if I wanted to go. I laughed and told her no way and not to waste my money. She insisted and I let her book a 5 day trip. We would normally go early December when the crowds are light.

She left to come home by the middle of the 3rd day it was so bad. Some days can be as packed as Xmas. Insane wait times for food and rides.

Don't get me wrong, a bad day at WDW is better than a good day at work. But not if you are use to quieter times of the year.

I've been there during April 2013 and it was very busy overall. Anyway, you can take advantage of FP+ and EMH. For us it was not a bad experience.

Awesome, thank you for all of your feedback! I will definitely re-consider :)

You know aside from Christmas, you will be hard pressed to truly be able to predict when heavy crowds will be there. We've made annual visits during out kids Spring break which happens the same time each year... and one year it would be crowded like made when another year it would be very sparse... Also remember that spring breaks happen at different times for different states so don't put total faith in any posters telling you when their break is because that doesn't mean it is the same for the other people that might visit... and at WDW you also have the foreign crowds which follow completely different patterns depending on the country... We gave up trying to avoid crowds and now focus on simply picking the time of year that works for us and has the best weather - because waiting in line is going to happen but I don't want to be waiting in 80% humidity and 95 degrees.

I agree, they can do an average of what it's looked like in the past year on crowds but there really is no way to predict the crowns in April. I'm going the week after Easter Sunday (20-26 of April) and I've gotten mixed reviews. Some day it will be crowded and some say it won't be to bad. I'm just going to go and enjoy my 7 days with my family!! It will be fun either way, crowds or no crowds!

I think you will be fine. We went the week prior to Easter last year and it was not crowded until Good Friday & Easter weekend. I think you will be going between the March Spring break season & Easter break. It will still be crowded but probably not insanely crowded.
We are going mid-March & I would rather go when you are going.

I have been over spring break (late March/early April) twice now, the most recent time being last year. After going only during the slower season before that, I was expecting the worst. I was pleasantly surprised, it was definitely manageable. Take advantage of EMH and FP/FP+ and you will be able to do most everything you want. It is pretty crowded, and popular attractions will have wait times out the roof, but just be patient, slow down, and enjoy it! Have fun!

Yep I keep looking at the 10 day extended forecast on accuweather, the app I have on my phone. It currently shows 3 days of rain during that week. However I am hopeful it's wrong..my boyfriend refers to this app as inaccurateweather.

Oh very exciting. I looked up the average temps today and it said average high of 82 and lows of 53. It should be a pleasant trip when we go then.

Oh your spring break is in April, I thought it was March like ours. It will be 80's most likely during the day and chilly in the eves if you are use to warm evenings in the 60's. I went a couple of years ago when it was early April and loved it. I am hoping this early spring break we have in March will have warm enough days where we can enjoy the pool
