Spreading the Magic Character Style :)

Well i'm moving down to Florida in the beginning of July. I'm going to be going to school and it has always been my dream to be a character. My sister's boyfriend was one for the CP, but he's been pretty vague when it comes to what the audition is like. I'm only 5'8 so I know my characters are limited to (what i've been told) Buzz Lightyear, Jesse, Eeyore and Pluto. First, does anyone know of any other characters I might have a possibility of becoming?
And Second: What is the interview process like? I would like to know what to expect, I have no problem being outgoing, friendly or anything like that, I just want to know how everything works :)

Thanks!

It has always been my dream to do characters as well. My brother has recently got a job at Disney, and before he auditioned for characters..he passed the audition, but was put into the 'Character Pool' working in Tommorrowland until called. The audition is this: learn some dance steps, then get in a group of 4..then perform the dance in front of judges..Forget the rest of the audition process..Good Luck!

By the way the Interview is easy..just look out for the audition

Then go for it Kat!! I know I would definetley jump at the opportunity to fullfill my dream..Sorry, but I believe that you got all the characters correct in your height range...but I think Smee is also in that range. Hope that helps. Good Luck!

advice...

have fun during the audition, and if you're not, act like you are.

They are looking for smiles and people actually moving. Not necesarily the accuracy of your choreography

why not?

I was in it for a few months, and then I got a call offering me a position. They actually go through the pool and get CM's from it

Really they do look through it? I've just heard from CM's that you can work there for about a year, and still not get called. I just hope it's not going to be long.

Well I did call down there a couple weeks ago and the girl who I talked to said they really needed CM's, so i'm not sure if I would be in a pool or not...I hope not though i'll need the $$!

it all depends on what they're looking for. It's always cheaper to pull from the pool than it is to hold a whole new audition

Well if you do audition Kat, and they do put you in the 'Character Pool' you can always start out in another department waiting to be called for characters.

So Rob, let's see if I am getting this right..

Do they pick names randomly, or do they pick them by how long you've been waiting in the pool? If they don't call you in the first 6 months..you have to audition again..

:(

I waited my 6 months in the character pool and never got called...but since I live in PA I never re-auditioned. Had I been down there, I would have. Oh well...plus I tore my ACL in September and I knew then that I wouldn't be able to be a character until I had the surgery and the many hours of Physical therapy! Good luck to whoever tries out though!

I'm a character at Disney right now so I can answer any questions you may have. More importantly than being a good dancer look like you're having a good time. I'm the worst dancer in the world and I smiled the whole time so here I am. Also, I don't think Jessie's in your height, I think she's shorter than that but you could be one of the inflatable dinosaurs at Animal Kingdom. They have a wide height range and are so much fun to play. Any other questions my new AIM name is G00fTr00per (zero's, not o's).

Also when they pull from the pool it depends on if they need your height range and such. So if you are a rare person about 5 foot even you will get called much before a pluto height and such. And WDWKat26 you are too tall to play jessie she is about 5'4 and is a very tight fit.

Is that the same with a tall person?

Like i said if they need someone in a particular height range they will call them asap. So if they are all filled up in Goofy height they will not call them. Its only the people they need in the height range.
