Spread Your Golden Wings - Disney's America Open Brainstorming Thread

I did a segment on this way back in the Imagineering Vault thread (which I should revive eventually) but nevertheless I've always thought that Disney's America was an interesting park concept.

While some backlash and cuts got in the way, I still think this park has potential with a few adjustments made to the concept.

I have some ideas of my own and @WDW Guru was kind enough to help kickstart them as well! I'll post the initial ideas below, but everyone's opinions are welcome for this park to make it the best it can be!

One of the original concepts was to have the "Main Street" be a Civil War Era town...but I thought I'd be more interesting to have it be a sorta expanded Liberty Square...beginning in Boston and working your way (through time) down to Philly and the Declaration of Independence signing.

Geographically it could be difficult to manage, but I thought the cobblestone streets of New England mixed with an old fashioned seaport would be a neat entrance...any thoughts on that?

I'd also like to try and emulate the natural wonders of America somehow in this park. Instead of focusing too much on history, leave that to an expanded Liberty Square, and just try to divide up the lands based on the Southeast, Southwest, Midwest, and Northwest.

For the Southeast
- I'd like to not totally copy Tom Saywer Island, but I definitely think the Mississippi River and other areas could be included, with maybe a hint of Savannah?

For the Midwest - St Louis maybe acting as a transition with the arch...

All I can think of is corn and farms so if someone has a neat idea for this...shout it out!

That's practically the Midwest :p:rolleyes: Probably a County Fair mini-land would make sense in that area as well

Although, one thing I can think of is the Great Lakes.... I feel like we could represent that interestingly somehow! :D

I love St. Louis Architecture.... It's pretty awesome, so I'd love to see it included :D

Northwest, the Rocky Mountains

There's this lake in Montana.... that I think would look cool in a theme park.... It's called Flathead lake, it's surrounded by mountains and it's totally clear water! One of the clearest lakes in the world :D

Also, something for Tall Tales would be pretty good for this theme park I think, since it's kinda a part of our history...and Disney has characters for a lot of them :p

A Native American tribal area would be cool as well! :D

Wow! That would be great! Definitely going in the Northwest area!

For the opening land, perhaps it could be designed in such a way that it sort of walks guests through the American Revolution (unless there's already a land dedicated to that. It's been a while since I've read the plans for Disney's America.) It could have the same structure, starting in Boston and working itself down the country, that you suggested, but I think that it would be a really interesting way subtly telling the story, with it being mostly visual. Of course, it would then end in Philadelphia at Independence Hall which I believe acts as the park's icon (again, correct me if I'm wrong.) I think it would be a really interesting way of visually walking guests through the revolution without treading the same ground in an attraction that explicitly focuses on the revolution. It could turn this Main Street area into a cool prelude to the rest of the park.

I'd also might avoid the arch. It's probably just me, but I think it might be a bit gaudy and wouldn't really fit the rest of the park.

Also, what about a New England-based Industrial Era land? I believe that was in the original plans, but it'd be really cool to expand upon.
