Split stay ?'s

Good morning everyone. We are considering coming in a day early for our trip, mainly due to airfare. We are thinking of staying at a value for the first night then going to PORS for the rest of the trip. Has anyone done this? How do you book it? We already have the PORS portion booked. Also, how does your luggage go from one resort to another? I'm guessing we would use the busses to get from one resort to the other. Sorry for so many questions. Thanks

The room itself is easy. The only wrinkle is if you have a package with tickets and dining.

The simplest way is to do it book a room only reservation for that one night. Disney will take care of moving all of your luggage for you. Simply take it to bell services and they will move it to bell services at you next resort. The only con to that is you will not be able to access your luggage until later in the day.

It is my understanding that you can, or at least could before Magic Bands, access you tickets from a package earlier with a split stay. I have never done this myself so I am unfamiliar with the procedure and I am not even sure if it is still possible. @Rob562 or @DisneyJoe will be more familiar with this than me.

If you don't need access to tickets booked with a package then you are home free. You can hang out at the pool, hit Disney Springs, etc.

We did that exactly last time. Air fares were significantly cheaper a day early. We stayed at the Pop Century and loved it. We didn't really deal with magic bands insofar that we arrived so late on the new day-1 we just spent time at the pool, ate dinner and then retired.

We left for the Contemporary and left our bags for the people at the Pop to move, which they did. It was a very seamless transition

As far as Disney is concerned, thee is no such thing as a split stay. It is simply 2 back to back reservations, so you book it as 2 stays.

As said above, if you book 2 room-only stays, with tickets separately, you will be able to book FPs for the whole time at 60 days from check-in day 1.

If you book the first night as a room-only, followed by a package with tickets attached, then the tickets are only valid during stay 2. At 60 days out from your swap-over day, you will be able to book FPs for the second stay.
Once you arrive, you can go to GS and have them activate the tickets early and use them on day 1. But you will only be able to book FPs on them once you do that.

ADRs are not "linked". So at 180 days from first check-in you. Can make them for days1 and 2. Then at 180 days from day 2, you can make them for the rest of your trip.

To get luggage moved, either call Bell Services and ask them to come and collect it from your room or take it down to them. They will move it for you but not guaranteed before late afternoon. When you get to second room, call and have them bring it up. No charge except tips at both resorts.

You will be homeless for a while. You can check in any time, but the room may not be ready. Pack a day bag if you think you'll want to swim, plus any medications etc. Or just head to the parks for the day and go back to the second resort when you're ready.

I can't really add much more to what was said above.

One note is that you'll be getting two MagicBands, one for each reservation, but they're not locked to only being used with one particular reservation. They can be used interchangeably on your trip (along with any other Bands you may already have) so feel free to order two different colors and wear whichever one you want each day.

We've done it. We've stayed onsite at a resort for three nights and offsite for four nights. You'll have the advantage of Disney handling your bags where we had to load/unload ourselves. For the wife and daughter it was hectic because they had to set up their "beauty" stations at two locations. For us guys, we basically live out of our suitcase on vacations.

Lol, I'm sort of the opposite, I always unpack and wife keeps everything crammed in her suitcase. I understand the beauty station though, there is barely enough room for my toothbrush.
