Split stay ADR/FP logistics

Hello!

So, Southwest flights came up for our trip yesterday and we decided to head down a day early and stay at All Star Movies for one night before our Boardwalk reservation. Even with the hotel it saved us $200, and it’s an extra night at Disney! But, I’ve never done a split stay before. It’s just my small family unit coming down early. Everyone else will be coming in as planned.

Questions:
Can I make ADRs for both trips on the date they open for the first one?
Can I make FP for the whole trip a day early? If so, can I make FP for the whole group, or just the people on the extra night?

Thanks!

1. No on dining. You will be able to make your first day ADRs 180 days before your first check in. The rest will be 180 days from your second check in.
2. As long as you have a single active ticket covering your entire stay, you should be able to make FP reservations for your entire trip 60 days prior to your first check in date.

Thanks Yoda! I suspected as much for the dining. And it makes sense that the FP works that way. Do you know if I can do FP for the whole group (7 people) even though only 3 of us are on the first reservation? I’m guessing not, which is no big deal.

First, do you all have stand alone tickets, or are they tied to the reservation in a package? That is key here.

If the Boardwalk stay is a package, although you, will be able to activate the tickets early, you can only do that at Guest Services in person. Which means you won't be able to book FPs for your All Stars arrival day.

However, as long as you are all linked together on MDE, you should still be able to book FPs for everyone 60 days out from your All Stars arrival day, for the duration of the Boardwalk stay, even if the others and/or you have a package.

If you have stand-alone tickets you could book for that first day too if you wanted to.

Sorry. Should have mentioned, Boardwalk is not a package. My parents are DVC people. Tickets are a variety, a couple APs and A few park hoppers.

Thanks for all the advice!

And as a bonus, the people staying that extra night will be able to customize a second set of MagicBands. The Bands from both reservations can then be used interchangeably throughout your trip (along with any previous Bands you may have).

I hadn’t thought of that! We don’t have any new puck bands yet. :)
