So is the water down the big drop totally for effect then?

tut tut... how can you have Splash Mountain running like that?

Yea, I believe the water isn't necessary for the ride to work. When I was there in January, everytime we passed the attraction, the water was running, then it wasn't then it was etc.

I was on the ride Saturday Feb 7th.

None of the water was working on the final drop, waterfall at the end, pushing the turtles in the air, etc.

Also, none of the chipmunks were working and a whole slew of animatronics. I've never seen the ride like that before, very strange.

I assume they have to have the water off to paint, without closing the ride. Is there a scheduled rehab yet after Presidents Week?

Hey I was on it also on Sat. It sure was funny not to have the water running on the big drop! I think the AA not working is not because of painting but $$$$. There were alot of the same AA not working in Dec when I was there.. Thanks Mr. Eisner!

I find this thread fascinating, but I'm not sure I would enjoy the ride without water on the final drop. I thought this work was supposed to be finished before President's weekend... Anyone know for sure? I'm going to be there early next week, and I'm hoping it will be fully operational (and wet!)

Splash looks amazing with the new paint it's recieving. It's just so much better. Before the new paint job, the mountain looked horrible. I too have a photo of it in my album.

Im going Febuary 28th so Ill tell ya guys if the water and paint is all done. Ill bring my digicam to snap some pics of the refurb. I hope the water is off. It would make the ride alot different and I wouldnt have to duck behind the seat so I dont get wet.

To me it looks like there having a rehab, without really having a close rehab. I was there Saturday, and I was going to post a thread on this.

The refurb on Splash looked absolutely wild the first couple of days. The change was drastic. Now it's all the same again, so there's really not so much to see. Riding without water down the drop was great, you could actually see the whole way down instead of closing your eyes because water was splashing up into the log. The splashdown is still just as wet as always, though, so don't think you're getting off too easy riding without the waterfall.

BTW, the main drop (#4), the last waterfall by the very small drop #5, and the side cannons during the drop are all on the same "switch", hence why you see none running when one is down.

Enjoy the unique, much less wet splash (although a little lacking in the show department) while it lasts.

LOL! I can't believe everybody who was there when I was! We rode it too, and it's disappointing not having everything as it should be. If I'd never ridden it before it probably wouldn't have struck me at all, but to KNOW how it's supposed to be and not have it up to par is kinda disheartening. Still fun, though. :)

I noticed that as well. It was at the end of the ride when he's supposed to be singing with Brer Rabbit. Right?
